Off Topic Bad news at NLC Towers as my daughter has been diagnosed with Desmoid Fibromatosis - an aggressive tumour. It's brutal and very rare 5 people per 1m. All treatment options are incredibly tough and life-changing. It's early days on a long, long road ahead. #Devastated

45 years ago, as news editor of @TheNorthernEcho, Mike Amos gave me this advice: "You get stories by getting off your arse & going out and about." At 79, in an era when too many reporters stay indoors & feed off social media, he's still the best example of that philosophy I know

On the much missed Stainmore Railway from West Auckland to Tebay with a branch to Penrith and the Cumbrian Coast. The branch may yet be reopened to Appleby East now that the Highways Agency have been forced to reverse a bridge infilling.

A superb @SportsMemNet morning with Jill and Don Parker at the Vest Construction Stadium.
Two of the most experienced table tennis people in the land with some fascinating insights into the sport. Absolutely wonderful.
Thank you Jill and Don.

It’s another @SportsMemNet this Thursday at The Vest Construction Stadium, as we welcome a very well known local footballing figure in Vince Kirkup.
Vince was more latterly the Chairman at Crook Town before recently retiring after so many years as a great contributor to local grass roots football.
It’s 10:30am at The Vest Construction Stadium.

Dave Bushell walked us through his incredible career in football today at @SportsMemNet and what a story, it is.
From being a trainee cost accountant at a bakery in Bolton then to Sunderland College, running school sports departments right through to working with Jimmy Armfield at Bolton Wanderers and of course being recruited by Sir Alex Ferguson to work at Manchester United. What a career.
Thank you Dave!
