Meanwhile, Kenny Minchey has led Kentucky to a 6-1 record with consecutive wins over Oklahoma and LSU. Remember, CJ Carr just beat out Minchey for the starting gig. Just not sold on CJ Carr....
The fact that Marcus Freeman didn't point out there was one second left on the clock was just another fail for ND last night. One of many.
ND has mediocre receivers. CJ Carr isn't a running threat. Their running game is average. This is what you get against a reasonably good defense.
True, but there should be a hard deadline for free agents to sign, which would make free agency more efficient.
My belief has never been that a salary cap is needed in MLB because free agency in notoriously inefficient, and the teams that spend the most are often the ones that cut corners on other stuff (player development, scouting, analytics). And I hope this series strengthens that argume
What actually needs to happen is outlawing the deferred money gimmick the Dodgers have taken advantage of
Excellent explanation of the problem with modeling and analytics. Cubs have slowest velocity starters in baseball. Their model told them it didn’t matter. It was wrong.
The #Cubs decision to mostly forge velocity for the last ~6 seasons is a complex weakness to correct in a single offseason.
Here's a small rant on models, decision-making, and being uncomfortable, the latter of which the Cubs will need to become.
Case Keenan was great against the Eagles but there were at least two passes that could've/should've been picked. Doing it again, and again, and again is why it's so hard to be a great starting QB in the NFL. Teams have tape, etc. Might be why they go to Tyson Bagent.
Wouldn't be surprised if the Padres beat the Brewers. Petco Park is a fortress for visiting teams, and they have enough starting and relief pitching and offense to win a game in Milwaukee. Cubs did lose to the hottest team in baseball. We'll see.
I wonder if Craig Counsell regrets leaving Milwaukee? So many people have canonized Pat Murphy, who just happens to have really done nothing that CC didn't do but now CC is stuck with a mediocre front office and Cub fans want him fired? How the ball bounces.
Bryce Harper is gonna be reliving that error for a long time unless the Phillies can figure out a way to win this.
The Cubs are capable of winning a series against any team in baseball. Elite offense, best defense in baseball, but that pitching staff....Let's see what happens.

The Cubs can win this series in San Diego. The Cubs can win a series after that, another after that, and a final one after that. There's nothing in the laws of physics that says it is impermissible for the unlikely to occur. We see unlikely things in baseball every day.
