Hundreds of kids -- minors -- are walking the track in Seattle every year. It's brutal, sometimes deadly, and a safe place for them is within reach. Why can't we get there?

Memorial Day weekend is the start of peak Alaska cruise season. Even here in Seattle, I don't think people realize how big the Alaska cruise summer tourism boom actually is.
330 vessel calls expected in 2026, catering to more than 1 million individual travelers(!!!), generating $1.2B in local economic impact.

On @KUOW's Week in Review today, I ranted about addiction and encampments, and then I ranted about a duplicitous effort from (not entirely confirmed, but it seems very suspicious) a politically powerful union to block a low cost, affordable employee-owned Winco grocery from opening in Seattle, and after that I ranted about the failure of Olympia politicians to ban cell phones from schools.
And my fellow reviewers of the week, @omnibusproject's John Roderick and former City Council candidate Heidi Stuber, seemed willing to play ball in what turned out to be an excellent convo. Special shout out to guest host @MikeLew65, who traded stories with me about the late, great Joel Connelly, and of course to the man behind the Week in Review curtain, producer Kevin Kniestedt.
Hey @Ourand_Puck, genuinely loved the Jordan story but this graf? "Jordan has seemingly tried to resuscitate his image after ESPN docuseries The Last Dance portrayed him as something of a maniacal, people-eating success addict." Wasn't MJ a producer of that doc?

Given that I am a @cityofmodesto native, I figured I'd share a little story about an unusual journey simply to dine in Modesto before returning home to the Bay Area:
