Well, Joseph, my husband was easily deceived and brought me and our 7 kids into a cult. I'm the one who saw the truth long before he did and told him we needed to leave. He disclosed this to his close friend who told him: "she's right, listen to her."
Women are more easily deceived—that’s not an insult, it’s biblical reality. Adam wasn’t deceived, but Eve was. This is why men are called to lead. Your wife needs to be protected from the world’s lies. Feminism, materialism, and false doctrine all prey on her heart. Guard her.

I want you to let this sink in: Paul Cain prophesied for decades that there would be a "new breed" rising to usher in the "last days revival." In 2008 he said, "Lord, you have never allowed me to say that I have met the new breed...[but] the angel of the Lord said, you've found what you're looking for. This is a man without guile..." Who is the man that is the final fulfillment of all of Paul Cain's prophecies? Who is the "man without guile?" Todd Bentley.

I was at Mars Hill when everything went down. I was present at the meeting (via video conference) when Driscoll and the executive board tried explaining everything away. I had a relationship with Driscoll and every satellite church pastor (at the time, it was 15 campuses). My ecclesiology is significantly different today than it was 10+ years ago (Presbyterian today, nondenominational then), so a lot of my critique has to do with those differences. That said, Driscoll could do no wrong, and he had zero accountability at Mars Hill. His "board" (see above) were selected from among the most famous pastors of the American evangelical church of the day. Those pastors' executive boards are "yes men," and unequivocally so. You could not disagree with Driscoll, and he would defer to his "executive board" often. Those pastors endorsed one another's books, spoke at each other's conferences, and filled each other's pulpits. Driscoll then (and now) structured the church in such a way that no one could tell him what to do, nor question any of his decisions. Look at Trinity Church Scottsdale today - who's on staff? Who's on his "elder" board? Family (his children), and friends. Driscoll is quite possibly the most gifted preacher (rhetorically) I've ever listened to, and that isn't particularly close. He could preach for an hour and a half, and leave people wishing he preached for longer. While the primary task of the pastor is preaching, the pastoral epistles are rather exhaustive on the character qualifications and kind of person you must be in order to lead Christ's church. Driscoll failed that on almost every front. He used church funds to push his "Real Marriage" book to launch it into the New York Times Bestseller list (and didn't let us know that's what the line item was for), never made the finances transparent for the congregation, and was nearly inaccessible for the rank and file of his church. You couldn't meet with him for counseling or advice. He was (and is) a figurehead. He's never been a pastor.
Mark Driscoll was never disqualified from being a pastor.

While I was an employee at Daystar, I was introduced to evangelists like Benny Hinn and other programmers on the network I had never heard of. One day, while browsing TV at home, my husband and I turned on Daystar to see Benny Hinn performing one of his revivals. An Indonesian girl got on the stage and was healed of paralysis. We flipped the channel only to see Benny Hinn also on TBN at the same time, but it was a different revival in a different part of the world. Lo and behold, it was the same Indonesian girl on the stage only this time, she was being healed of deafness. My husband and I were astounded, flipping back and forth between the two channels, almost unable to believe it. But our eyes did not deceive us. It was the same woman. It was only then that I began to question the charismatic movement. I was so embarrassed that Daystar let him on the air and questioned it often. My questions were ignored. Years later when I really looked at Daystar’s business model, I finally understood why they’d let a known charlatan on their network. Because he paid them. Money is at the root of this so-called “ministry.” Not the Gospel. Not truth. Just money. And money is why charlatans like Benny Hinn have ministries for decades.
Benny Hinn’s power explained by three hypnosis experts.

As trauma survivors it can be so easy to be preoccupied and live in our heads … strangely it can seem we’re safer if we’re keeping our minds on our intrusive thoughts or anxiety - I got stuck there for yrs doing consistent battle with my inner critic - it’s a normal trauma response “Was I to blame” “If I’d behaved better would he/she have treated me differently?” “Why aren’t I good enough?” This litany of blame and shame is our undermined self-belief,and conditioned sense of shame created by our abusers to keep us in control. It’s taken me a lot of therapy and my own reading to begin to comprehend that any shame and blame doesn’t belong to us but to the abuser. I’m beginning to learn to unconcernedly disregard the little bastards and be aware I have a right to be happy. So I urge you, if you can, to look outward today not inward - I promise you it’s safe to do so because the truth about you is that you were always good enough - the problem was the abuser. Look outward, if only for a while, and enjoy the simple and sometimes hidden joys within your day 😊

TRAUMA SURVIVORS OFTEN FIND CHRISTMAS AN INCREDIBLY CHALLENGING TIME… and for each person that reason is different. If you want to … share what it is particularly about Christmas that ramps up your anxiety … and let’s encourage each other. I’ll go first … I grew up in the cult of hell fire and brimstone fundamentalist, evangelical, Pentecostal Christianity … and have Cptsd from it and I find hearing the singing of Christmas hymns in shops etc very challenging What about you?

I think I made a mistake here - casting Al Mohler as "mainstream" by contrast to Doug Wilson. Because Mohler too has shown himself to be extremist & the last thing I want is to normalize Mohler's views. What language to make this contrast. Thoughts? #ThisistheSBC
This is how the fringe merges with the mainstream -- in #ChristianNationalism and in evangelicalism. When the mainstream is on the same platform as the fringe, they legitimize the fringe. E.g., Al Mohler shaking hands on platform with Doug Wilson (photo from @BucksCoBeacon).

Protecting women whether they like it or not. Reminds me of the pseudo protection Christian men offer women that isn’t about protection at all, just power. I write about this on the last page of the last chapter of JESUS AND JOHN WAYNE…
Trump: I told women I will be their protector. They said, ‘Sir, please don’t say that.’ Well I'm going to do it whether the women like it or not
