Hoping yesterday was a bit of bad luck, my stomach was slightly off, felt a bit nauseous, hadn't slept well, legs messed up from the hike, and that was before I got on the coach. Today I am well rested, legs still a bit messed up, but the rest of me is fine.

It was only a matter of time.
Now I understand why @Misanfrog has fled to South America.

Well, I feel a lot better after a good night's rest and being flat on my back for about 9 hours.

funny how they had to use a logarithmic scale to make it look like afghans, middle easterners, and africans rape less than they do this is how it would look like if linear

There it is, ladies and gentlemen. The Economist has finally published a graph on migrant crime levels. I’m sure the usual suspects will be absolutely furious to discover that the data has once again refused to cooperate with their preferred narrative.

Got to love them burying the lede by hiding the reality of the horror with a log scale.

The five stages of denial seems to capture much of modern discourse.

My father was returning home from the war. He had to answer some questions from a Sarge who was filling in forms. Father's profession? He's the Archbishop of Canterbury. And I'm the Queen of Sheba! Father's profession?

Current room, staying for one night, is not bad for £20, good shower, comfortable bed, only needs a lamp as the lights are too bright. Not that this matters that much as it's bed for me soon after the day I've had.

Tonight, Cardiff Castle will light up green to mark Dwarfism Awareness Day. 💚 The illumination celebrates diversity and helps raise awareness and understanding of dwarfism. orlo.uk/S4Qel

Personally I’d prefer to see a Saddam Hussein-designed Rainforest Cafe.
Does Obama not understand that to most Americans the Cheesecake Factory is a very nice and fancy restaurant?

This is really good news. Anyone who has spent time in BC knows it's basically paradise on earth but governed by incompetents and lunatics. This will be an interesting test of the possibilities of normalcy.
I must say that I’m more invested in the success of the incoming Doerkson government than I’ve been in any goverment in nearly a decade. What interests me most is the potential fecundity of the premier-elect’s back-to-basics, normie conservatism. Doerkson isn’t offering political dopamine. His whole pitch is about competent government, economic growth, and public institutions that fulfill their basic purposes. The magnitude of his victory is a sign of how broadly that proposition can appeal. The story, in a nutshell, is a guy from Williams Lake offered a recognizable conservatism that could win in Vancouver-Yaletown. His temperament helped bring together rural communities, suburban families, and urban voters around some straightforward expectations about how their province should work. Schools should teach. The justice system should protect the public. Hospitals should treat patients. The civil service should deliver services competently and impartially. These institutions have important yet bounded missions. They should discharge them effectively and resist the temptation to become vehicles for every passing political or ideological cause. The same practical instinct should guide economic policy: make it possible to build homes, grow businesses, develop resources, and attract investment. Give people reasons to believe that hard work and initiative can produce a better life here. This is the politics of normalcy in practice. And even if its rhetoric is moderate, its ambitions are considerable. Restoring focus and competence to institutions that have lost them will require conviction, persistence, and capable people. That’s another reason for optimism: the quality of the candidates and potential front bench, along with the talented people Doerkson’s leadership drew to the campaign. @gavindew is someone to watch in particular. His interest in both economic growth and making government more productive—including through AI—could make him an important contributor to this governing agenda. The test now is governing. There will be hard choices and inevitable disappointments along the way. But this is a conservatism that I want to see succeed—and an unusually promising opportunity to show what it can accomplish.

I am very glad that tomorrow aside I have about a week between coach trips, and then one of the more concentrated spans of them is along, mostly, coastal plain, I think, while the one at the end includes mostly shorter ones.
