Now that GCSE results have landed and the data is being crunched, it’s worth mentioning that progress scores for individual classes (based on whatever proxy baseline) shouldn’t be used, on their own, to judge teacher effectiveness 1/6

Teaching year 11 chemistry this morning. Majority of students out for their geography exam, and several have computer science this afternoon. I'm not sure what is being achieved by having year 11s in regular lessons at this time of year, for students or staff.
What structure do people use for analytical writing? Do people feel there is a benefit for using this set structure from KS3 all through KS4? Or should this scaffolding be removed for 80% of students? Interested to hear thoughts!

I don’t dispute moving the summer break could be sensible but it’s also worth remembering that we have one of the shortest summer breaks in the world. Other countries don’t report that children are deregulated for having a summer break. This narrative needs to stop.

I have been teaching a long time now and I do generally feel like a good teacher. However, I am not feeling like a good teacher this week. I feel awkward and unconfident and doubting myself. I haven’t had a bad week at all, it’s just my overthinking brain. Here’s to Monday!

Parents act so surprised when teachers say we don’t know about something that happened or didn’t see something happen.
Our classes are overflowing, many students are have behaviors & are disrespectful, and we are doing our best to actually TEACH. We can’t see everything!
