Our Y7s currently read Trash as their novel study but the feeling across the department is that it’s a little outdated now. Does anyone have any suggestions of dynamic, engaging (but relatively short) texts to study please?☺️

Our department chalked key quotations onto the exam line up area to give our lovely Y11s a boost as they go into Lit Paper 2 today. All with the school’s therapy dog’s help, of course!

Survived my first Ofsted inspection today. Exhausted doesn’t even cover it!
Had my first experience of a wasp invading my classroom today. I looked around for an adult to help then realised that I was indeed the adult and that my pupils were all looking for me to deal with it. My seven year old self who used to scream and cry at wasps would be so proud😂

This is my valuable contribution to EduTwitter after being off my account for months on end - you’re welcome🙄😂

I'm looking for some ideas for English classroom displays. My creative juices are definitely not flowing at the minute - post-COVID brain! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I want to make sure they are meaningful rather than merely decorative.

Any other ECTs just a huge bundle of anxiety ahead of beginning their teaching careers tomorrow?😳😳

Is it normal to be absolutely petrified about an induction day at your new school? My nerves are off the chart😩

Can’t believe I’m a fully qualified English teacher as of today. Training has been the most difficult, wonderful, stressful, amazing, exhausting and incredible rollercoaster. I’m ready to step off it now though so that I can get some kip!

Genuinely terrified of having my SCITT director come and observe me this week - my brain has gone to mush just trying to plan the lesson🤯😭

Who is Cortana and why does she feel that I need to have a daily briefing from her every morning?

I have an interview next week and I’m looking for some inspiration. I’ll be teaching a Y8 mixed ability class about how writers structure their texts to create meaning. I’m worried that it’s quite a dry topic and they might become disengaged. Can someone please help?🙏

I’m having such a wonderful time on placement that I don’t even feel relieved now Easter is here. It’s honestly such a pleasure being at school. I come in every day with a huge grin and leave with an even bigger one. What more could I ask for?

I have just deleted one of tomorrow’s lessons by accident which took my four hours to plan. It’s going to be a looooong night😭😭

Teachers are great at giving everyone grace but themselves. Please be kind to yourself too.

I feel like I’m starting to lose the attention/interest of my Y10s with Blood Brothers. Can someone suggest a dynamic (but COVID safe) way of teaching it please? Usually, I’d get pupils moving around and working collaboratively but unable to do that at the minute😭
