By checking the price differences between alt lines on sharpbooks we were able to determine the value of a half point for spreads and totals in the NCAAM market This gives us the ability to compare different numbers and produce a “SharpMoney” fair value price. For example Circa has this total at under 146 (-110) and Kambi books have the total at 146.5 (+104). BookMaker also has this line at 146.5 (-115). We use the artificial Circa line that our bot builds for the 146.5 total and devig it with the BookMaker price to determine the “SharpMoney line” For this example the “SharpMoney line” is under 146.5 (-105) and we are able to place this bet on Kambi books for +104 odds which gives us about 4.59% EV! I’ve made over $50,000 sports betting by viewing and analyzing sports betting as a financial market! 💰 Understanding sports and understanding sports betting are two completely different concepts. (So many people struggle with this idea) Some of the most knowledge sports analysts are terrible bettors and some of the best sports bettors can’t name a single player on the team they bet. I first started my sports betting journey by thinking I could use my advanced knowledge of sports to make good bets. I quickly realized that understanding the market and how books moved their prices was much more important then trying to predict the outcome of a game. Let me give you an example of a play I took this morning 👇 I was notified of this play by the SharpMoney bot which is a +EV bot that identifies discrepancies in the sports books odds and displays the data on an easy to read chart. The Pink line represents Pinnacle which is one of the most respected books in the industry. They take extremely high limit wagers from professional bettors which gives the bookmakers at Pinnacle the best information on when and how to move a line. The white line represents MGM which is one of the many retail books you are probably aware of or using. The business model of a retail book is to only take action from non profitable bettors. Since I am identified as a “sharp” bettor on MGM my max bet on this line was $67.35. By limiting profitable bettors down to small amounts retail books like MGM can limit their risk and not have to spend the time or money trying to adjust their odds accurately. In this example we can see that MGM has this line priced at -140 and hasn’t moved at all. Pinnacle on the other hand is constantly adjusting their odds to what they believe is the fairvalue of this play. They have moved from -142 to -165 which means the probability of this play hitting is increasing. Like I said earlier, Pinnacle has much higher limits ($3,000 on this play) so their lines have to be accurate than MGM who will only take $67.35 or less from “sharp” bettors.
