And while I get ready for @ESBiomech conference my visiting period in Bologna comes to an end. Lots of great discussions and research done in these couple of months - big thanks to my twitterless hosts Nicola Sancisi, Michele Conconi and @MarcoViceconti!! 🙏🙏
More than two years after I left, it was definitely time for a visit! @imperialcollege
The paper comes with extensive supplementary materials including the most common mathematical formulations used for the muscle activation and contraction dynamics and inheritance diagrams tracing those formulations back to their original source 5/7
A first scoring scheme recorded the number of described properties in the 55 models. Spoiler alert: the 90s were the flourishing age of Hill-type muscle modelling! 3/7
In brief, from a systematic search yielding 550 published models, 55 (!) key models were extracted to investigate the main trends, state-of-the-art, and gaps in the field of Hill-type muscle modelling. (🎁 61 additional key studies are in supplementary materials.) 2/7
We released the preprint of a systematic review on Hill-type muscle models! 🎉 We hope to provide a convenient tool for navigating this dense literature, useful for those wishing to advance the field or find the ‘right’ muscle model for their use. 1/7
