It is one of the most incredible own goals I have ever seen in politics. You have to watch the clips to believe them.
It's the culmination of two months of debates between @BradMBradford and @oliviachow when last night, mayor Olivia Chow revealed something so vital about her own leadership.
She said:
"At some point, you need to take a stand. You have to say this is what I believe in. Yes or No. It is tough, but that's what leadership is about."
Here is what Olivia Chow believes in, apparently.

British Columbia Green Party leader Emily Lowan declares, “We are the only party who is equipped to stand against the Conservatives and their existence.”
Following the Conservatives’ majority victory, Lowan says she is “scared” of the incoming government and vows to fight it “in the legislature” and “in the streets.”

First funny communist, except it’s only half funny because the majority of them aren’t joking when they say this is based.

I know this isn’t meant to be funny, but I’m literally cackling. “My decades long thesis on just war demonstrates israel has been fighting one, therefore I am revising my decades long thesis because it cannot possibly be that israel is doing something right”
Michael Walzer published “Just and Unjust Wars,” an attempt to delineate the rights and wrongs of warfare in both its causes and its conduct, in 1977. In the nearly 50 years since, no other book on the subject has matched its influence. The precepts are not complicated: it is just to defend your country from an invasion and it is unjust to invade a country that has not attacked you—although Walzer does allow for exceptions, mostly for humanitarian causes. It is just to assume certain risks to avoid civilian casualties and it is unjust to bomb towns indiscriminately to compel an enemy to surrender. The justice of going to war—what philosophers call jus ad bellum—is separate from jus in bello, the justice of how a war is fought.
The war in Gaza has made Walzer rethink one of the book’s fundamental principles. “The wall between jus ad bellum and jus in bello, which had sustained his theory for almost half a century, was no longer sturdy,” Jordi Graupera writes. As Walzer said to him, “There is a sense in which the carnage of Gaza, the ongoing carnage, simply made the war unjust.” Read about why a philosopher of war is now reconsidering his seminal work: newyorkermag.visitlink.me/T7…

💥If anyone can claim the title of a Likud Elder it is Benny Begin, 83, former Netanyahu minister and son of Likud founder Menachem Begin. This is his video begging fellow Likud members to kick the current Likud out to the opposition.

@berlingske: “That is how Per Stig Møller describes it today, following Friday’s announcement that Pillay is this year’s recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.
After his own meetings and collaboration with the South African jurist, Per Stig Møller is, in his own words, “shocked” by the choice.
“I am shocked. She is not qualified. I was angry when I heard she had been chosen,” he tells Berlingske.
Per Stig Møller had hoped for Pillay’s help in the crisis that firmly put Denmark on the world map. For the minister, it was a matter of freedom of expression—and therefore a relevant issue for a High Commissioner for Human Rights.
“It should have been obvious. But her response was that we should introduce censorship. So that it would not happen again,” the minister recalls of the experience.
According to his own account, he gave her “a very clear answer.” Denmark would not introduce censorship.

Navi Pillay’s record should raise far more than serious questions about the Nobel Committee’s judgment. It should disqualify her as a recipient of the peace prize.
🔴 When a car bomb struck Denmark’s embassy in Pakistan after Danish newspapers republished the Muhammad cartoons, former Danish foreign minister Per Stig Møller says Pillay’s advice was not to defend freedom of expression, but to introduce censorship.
🔴 Her response to Charlie Hebdo was no better. She called the magazine “doubly irresponsible” for publishing Muhammad cartoons, described them as “malicious and deliberately provocative,” and said she “fully understands why people wish to protest strongly.” In other words, when Islamists answer speech with threats and murder, Pillay’s instinct is to rebuke those exercising free speech rather than the extremists.
🔴 In 2022, Pillay defended fellow UN commissioner Miloon Kothari after he invoked the antisemitic trope of a “Jewish lobby” controlling social media and questioned Israel’s UN membership. Kothari later apologised. A planned event honouring Pillay at Berlin City Hall was cancelled after the mayor withdrew support.
🔴 In 2010, she declined to attend the Nobel ceremony for the imprisoned Chinese democracy campaigner Liu Xiaobo, citing a low-level scheduling conflict in Geneva, as Beijing pressured foreign officials to boycott the event.
🔴 At the antisemitic Durban II conference in 2009, Pillay remained seated while Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad delivered his tirade against Israel and Western delegations walked out. She condemned the speech afterwards—but later admitted that she had been “naive” about Ahmadinejad.
🔴 And a review of her first two years as UN human-rights chief found no public statements by Pillay on human rights abuses in dictatorships as Cuba, North Korea, Eritrea, Saudi Arabia, Sudan or Belarus.
This is the track record on which the Nobel Committee—and a chorus of commentators around the world—now celebrate this activist as a champion of human rights, freedom and peace. Despicable.
I’m going to post this too before I’m accused of supporting Tibi in the tweet below.
