Military Source to Sudanese Echo: Damazin Is Secure, Army Redeployment Is Part of an Organised Plan, and Large Forces Have Yet to Enter the Fighting
4 November 2026
A military source contacted by Sudanese Echo for clarification on the latest military developments in the Blue Nile Region has confirmed that the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) have carried out redeployment operations involving several of their units, withdrawing them from certain towns and areas and relocating them to other positions as part of an organised military plan prepared for the next phase of operations.
The source stressed that Damazin, the capital of the Blue Nile Region, remains under the control of the Sudanese Armed Forces, and that there is no imminent threat to the city, contrary to reports circulating that have raised concerns about its military situation.
These clarifications follow the Sudanese Armed Forces' announcement on Tuesday that they had redeployed their troops from the Sali area in the Blue Nile Region, following clashes with the UAE-Backed Rapid Support Militia (Janjaweed), and their allies from the Sudan People's Liberation Movement–North (SPLM-N). Damazin also came under attacks by explosive-laden drones on Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning. The army's air defences intercepted the attacks amid continuing military escalation in the region.
The source dismissed rumours that the road to Sennar and other areas had been left open to an advance by the militia, or that these areas were now without military protection. The source emphasised that the ongoing operations in the Blue Nile Region do not reflect the full military capabilities available to the Sudanese Armed Forces.
The source confirmed that the SAF has substantial military forces and formations deployed across neighbouring states, most of which have not yet participated in the ongoing military operations in the region. These include the Second Infantry Division in Gedaref, as well as military formations in Kassala and other areas. The source stressed that substantial forces are available for deployment if required, adding that the forces stationed in neighbouring states are many times larger than those currently deployed in Damazin and the wider Blue Nile Region.
The source explained that redeployment is a normal military procedure employed by armies during wartime and does not necessarily indicate a decline in combat capability. The source noted that the Sudanese Armed Forces have conducted similar operations on numerous occasions since the outbreak of the War of Dignity, before subsequently regaining the initiative and making battlefield advances on several fronts.
The source cited previous military developments in El Obeid, in North Kordofan State, where redeployment operations were followed by periods of military advances during which the Sudanese Armed Forces were able to push back the militia and expand the scope of their operations towards the outskirts of Darfur and other areas of Kordofan.
The source stressed that the current movements form part of military planning for the next phase of operations, and that they should be assessed in the context of the overall military campaign and its results, rather than on the basis of isolated troop movements on the ground.

“I hope we’re using current [Country A] situations for our advantage.”
The FBI affidavit describes “Country A” as a country bordering Ethiopia. Message is two days after war erupted in Sudan.
Coincidence? No.

Satellite Images Reveal the Revival of Al-Sileit Agricultural Project After the Expulsion of the UAE-Backed Rapid Support Militia from Khartoum and the Rehabilitation of Irrigation Canals
November 3, 2026 | Sudanese Echo
Satellite images published by Blubell, a smart agriculture platform, reveal the return of agricultural activity to the Al-Sileit Agricultural Project in East Nile locality, Khartoum State, following the rehabilitation and reopening of its main irrigation canal. The development marks an important step in the recovery of a major agricultural project that suffered extensive damage during the occupation of the area by the UAE-backed Rapid Support Militia (Janjaweed).
The images show a clear contrast between the farmland before and after rehabilitation, with large areas returning to cultivation after previously showing little vegetation. Blubell uses remote sensing technology to monitor agricultural projects, assess crop health, manage irrigation, and optimize fertilizer use.
Covering approximately 18,000 feddans (7,560 hectares), Al-Sileit is one of Khartoum State's important agricultural projects, producing crops and horticultural products while supporting livestock-related activities. During the war, the project suffered extensive damage to its infrastructure, agricultural equipment, and irrigation networks, alongside the looting and destruction that affected farming projects across the state.
Following the Sudanese Armed Forces' recapture of the area, agricultural authorities in Khartoum State began rehabilitating the project. In March 2026, officials announced the completion of maintenance and rehabilitation work, while subsequent reports confirmed its return to production as part of wider efforts to revive agricultural projects damaged during the war.
The significance of these satellite images extends beyond Al-Sileit itself. They provide a tangible example of the relationship between restored security and agricultural recovery in Sudan. Ending militia control allowed farmers to return to their land and enabled agricultural authorities to repair irrigation canals and restore services disrupted by the war.
This recovery comes as Sudan faces growing threats of hunger and famine, driven by the combined effects of drought, irregular rainfall, war, displacement, and the destruction of agricultural infrastructure. Attacks by the UAE-backed Rapid Support Militia, along with the looting of crops and livestock and the forced displacement of farmers, have severely disrupted agricultural production across large areas, particularly in Darfur and Kordofan.
Recovery efforts are not limited to Al-Sileit. During 2026, the Gezira Agricultural Scheme also underwent irrigation canal maintenance, silt removal, and infrastructure rehabilitation as part of efforts to expand cultivated areas. The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has likewise identified the rehabilitation of agricultural projects and productive infrastructure as priorities in its 2026–2028 agricultural recovery programme for Sudan.
The Al-Sileit experience highlights a fundamental challenge in addressing Sudan's food crisis. The government can tackle many agricultural problems through financing, providing farming inputs, repairing irrigation systems, and improving water management. However, such measures remain severely constrained in areas under militia control, where attacks, looting, and displacement prevent farmers from returning to their land and resuming production.
Blubell's satellite images provide visible evidence of renewed agricultural activity following the restoration of security and the reopening of irrigation infrastructure, although the images alone cannot establish actual crop yields or whether the project has recovered its full productive capacity.
The experience demonstrates that confronting the threat of famine in Sudan requires two complementary efforts: supporting agricultural production and addressing the effects of drought, while restoring security and ending militia control over agricultural areas. Irrigation canals can be repaired, seeds and financing can be provided, and farmland can become productive again. But none of these measures can deliver sustainable recovery unless farmers can safely access their land, cultivate their crops, harvest their produce, and bring it to market.

This is a petrol station in South Kordufan that was struck today by a UAE strategic drone most probably operated by Colombian mercenaries that took off from Ethiopia; at this point the RSF is merely a front for the UAE’s war on Sudan. 16 innocent civilians were killed in this attack!!

The ruling regime of Zayed’s sons in the #UAE is pressuring #Ethiopia into a direct confrontation with Sudan that could ignite a wider regional cross-borders war, creating an opening for the UAE to intervene directly in support of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, which it already openly supplies with weapons and foreign mercenaries. The aim is to open an eastern front that would divert Sudan’s attention and resources from the advances made by its Armed Forces in liberating territory across Kordofan and Darfur. Ongoing attacks against Sudan have already claimed civilian lives, severely damaged critical infrastructure, including water and electricity facilities and the national power grid, and deprived communities of essential services, further deepening the humanitarian crisis.
Sudan reserves its full right to defend its territory by all available means. Yet since the war began in 2023, its government has exercised strategic restraint, avoiding confrontation with neighboring states that support the RSF and its political allies, while pursuing diplomatic engagement and the instruments of international law. This is not weakness, but a deliberate effort to avert a regional war whose devastating consequences would fall upon the peoples of the region, particularly Sudanese civilians. The only beneficiary would be Abu Dhabi’s ruling regime, which continues to fuel and expand conflicts in pursuit of a destructive regional agenda extending far beyond Sudan, as witnessed in Yemen, Somalia, Libya, and elsewhere.
But restraint has its limits.
Ethiopia and Sudan are bound by geography, history, and a shared future. These bonds have endured for centuries and will remain for ever, outlasting the temporary interests and influence of the UAE. Addis Ababa must therefore make its choices according to the interests of its own people and the shared interests of the region, not the destructive ambitions of Zayed’s regime. It is we, the peoples of the Horn of Africa, who bear the human and material costs of this escalating aggression, while the sponsors and beneficiaries of this new colonialism, operating from afar, reap its rewards.
Neither Sudan’s government nor its people seek war with Ethiopia, or with any other country. The war in Sudan was imposed upon us by the RSF militia’s attempt to seize and subjugate the state. It has been prolonged and expanded by the UAE’s aggression and sustained military support, enabling the militia to commit horrific atrocities against Sudan and its people. While Sudan continues to defend its people and territory against the RSF’s campaign of terror, it will pursue every available diplomatic and legal means to protect its sovereignty against further aggression.
We therefore call on Addis Ababa to reverse course, immediately halt the use of Ethiopian territory to launch terrorist attacks against Sudan, and end the facilities and logistical support enabling the UAE to arm and train the RSF. Ethiopia must respond to Sudan’s legitimate demands in accordance with the principles of good neighborliness, through concrete and verifiable measures.
