New @MobilizeRecover survey results found that Americans see drug addiction as one of the most serious health problems in the U.S., but gaps in medication access & education could be keeping millions from meaningful recovery. See the full survey results: bit.ly/4xIRgBp

Survivors of the drug war should get patches like these.
Uniform patches created and worn by DEA agents of the Cocaine Intelligence Unit (1980s–1990s) and the Ecstasy and Club Drugs Unit (2000)

🧵 The more people know about their drug supply, the safer they can be. #SyringeServicesPrograms (#SSPs) have been saving lives through their drug checking work, moving beyond test strips to working with advanced equipment. NHRC, in collaboration with our partners, has published

This is what real commitment looks like. Staying grounded in care even when funding is cut and the pressure to pull back is high. People don’t stop using because support disappears. They just become more at risk. Grateful for leaders who keep showing up anyway. ❤️
🧵NHRC's Executive Director Laura Guzman sat down w/ @theprogressive to discuss NHRC's steadfast commitment to people who use drugs, particularly when support for life-saving care is cut & further threatened regularly. She said NHRC prioritizes.... bit.ly/NHRCTheProgressiveFea…

Drug use is not all good or all bad. It is a spectrum. Addiction is real and dangerous. But most people who try many substances do not become addicted. That makes the conversation more complex, not less important. Watch: youtu.be/30h9gsINjMc

Important piece and glad Helen is shining light on the corruption and harm baked into the sober home industry. The problem is the profit model, not care itself.

New national polling reveals what families across America already know: Mental health care should be easy to access and easy to afford. 91% of voters (90% of Republicans and 92% of Democrats) support requiring health insurance companies to cover mental health services when prescribed by a doctor. It’s just common sense. The message is clear: Americans want leaders who will finally fix our broken mental health care system.

Powerful op-ed by my friend Susan Ousterman.@Suze0408 Calling fentanyl a “weapon of mass destruction” may sound tough, but it risks pushing us further from the public-health responses that actually save lives. This piece cuts through fear with clarity and compassion.
"My son was not an enemy combatant, nor a victim of war waged by foreign adversaries," writes @Suze0408. "When fentanyl is framed as a weapon of war, the policy response shifts toward fear, instead of interventions that keep people alive." filtermag.org/fentanyl-weapo…

CSA scheduling ≠ real world harm. A U.S. expert consensus found fentanyl, meth, crack, and heroin cause the most harm while legality and scheduling were poor predictors. Withdrawal and disrupted care drive risk. Evidence based harm reduction saves lives.

When the alcohol supply was unregulated and poisoned there weren't addiction doctors selling alcoholtrexone and buprenalcohol. The drug policy shields addiction drugs while making competitor drugs dangerous through lack of quality controls. This man profits from the dead.

Military solutions won’t fix a public health crisis. We’ve spent decades trying to fight drugs instead of treating people. What saves lives isn’t war, it’s evidence based care, harm reduction, and families who never stop showing up🙏🏼
