Today we were in the Slug Shack grabbing some behind the scenes footage! We’re putting together some “making of” content for The Outsider, the first film we made as a team, in anticipation of its public release this year.

I’m very comfortable with public speaking, podcasting, everything using my voice, but this BTS stuff is not only requiring me to be comfortable opening up my creative spaces, it’s got me sharing more on camera. I’ve been learning to throw all vanity aside and just get…

up in front of the camera and explain stuff without thinking about it too much…and it feels both fun and uncomfortable at the same time. That’s a good sign of growth in the right direction. #indie #filmmaking #bts #puppetfilm #madeinportland #madeinpdx #pagancircus

Quick tour of the puppet body I built for the star of The Outsider. She’s a sculpted face with a head of doll hair on top of a body that’s basically made of garbage. (But hey, don’t we all feel like that once in a while?)

I just used whatever leftover materials I had laying around, and this puppet had to carry us through the entire film! Puppets don’t have to be fancy or even well-sculpted to bring out plenty of emotion. I think her role in The Outsider proves that. #diy #handmade #puppet

everything (minus a little compositing/animation) was to be created in-camera using simple camera tricks. Did I pull it off? think so.

Maybe I just feel emotional sharing this work in a big space when it was created in tiny spaces with a tiny crew (mostly me and @faust.and.company).

But when our film connects with people the way I hoped it would, that still blows my mind. If you haven’t seen THE OUTSIDER yet, good news…you’ll be able to see it this year. And more. 🌼🌼🌼👹💚 #astoriahorrorfest #shiverontheriver #theoutsider #puppetfilm #madeinportland
