THE PETITION:
Natalie is asking Americans to stand with her in requesting that ICE and the Trump Administration do everything within their authority to deport her father, Miguel Angel Casarez-cardoso, back to Mexico as soon as possible.
Illegal alien Miguel Angel Casarez-cardoso is currently incarcerated at Snake River Correctional Institution in Ontario, Oregon. He was admitted on November 5, 2019, and has an earliest release date of May 22, 2035. He was convicted in Multnomah County of Rape I, Rape I Attempt, Sodomy I Attempt, and Criminal Mistreatment I. He sexually abused Natalie throughout her childhood.
At the current official Oregon DOC rate of $218.36 per day, housing him costs taxpayers roughly $80,000 per year. By his earliest release date in 2035, the total cost is projected to exceed $1.3 million.
Oregon’s sanctuary laws currently prohibit state prisons from honoring ICE administrative detainers or coordinating transfers for immigration purposes. As a result, he is expected to be released into the community rather than into federal custody for removal. Ideally, his removal would come prior to his release out of prison.
Natalie is calling on Oregon and U.S. lawmakers to coordinate so that noncitizens who commit serious crimes against American children are removed from the country rather than housed for years in state prisons at taxpayer expense. She is also urging ICE and the Trump Administration to use every available tool to ensure her father is deported upon release or through any lawful process, and to strengthen measures that prevent illegal entry in the future.
When people who are not authorized to be in the United States commit violent crimes against American citizens, the human cost to victims and the financial cost to taxpayers should not be ignored. Natalie asks policymakers to prioritize public safety, accountability, and the efficient use of public resources.

Missionary charged with rape of a 15-year-old gets one year “rider” plea.
22-year-old Krew Zaugg was sentenced Monday in Idaho after pleading guilty to felony battery with the intent to commit a serious felony.
The charge stemmed from a May 4, 2025 incident involving a 15-year-old girl inside his Tesla, according to Local News 8, East Idaho News, and KPVI. He had originally faced charges of rape of a victim under 16 and lewd conduct with a child under 16. The latter was dismissed under the June plea agreement.
District Judge Michael Whyte ordered Zaugg into a retained jurisdiction “rider” program for up to one year of treatment in custody. Afterward, the judge can decide on probation or impose an underlying sentence of four to 14 years.
Prosecutors had recommended a potential 20-year term, noting he was college-aged while the girl was a high-school freshman. Zaugg told the court he had recently returned from a Latter-day Saint mission, had broken up with his girlfriend that night, and felt “sad, lonely and miserable” when he connected with the girl on social media and made what he called an impulsive decision.
Idaho’s rider program is a split between probation and prison. Zaugg will spend one year incarcerated while receiving intensive assessment, treatment, education, and programming.

He was 14 when he beat his 8-year-old neighbor with a baseball bat, cut her throat and pushed her body inside the frame of his waterbed. Then he slept on that bed for a week while the whole street searched for her.
Jacksonville, Florida. November 3, 1998. Maddie Clifton went outside to play and never came home.
Volunteers searched the woods and ponds for days.
Joshua Phillips lived across the street.
Police came to the house. A sergeant later recalled that Phillips sat on that bed petting his dog, "cool as a cucumber." Maddie was right underneath him.
Seven days after she vanished, her body was found inside his bed.
In the video below, Phillips stands in court in an orange jumpsuit and reads a letter to Maddie’s family. "I did something horrible. I’m so sorry." He was sentenced to life without parole in 1999.
After the Supreme Court ruled out automatic life without parole for juvenile offenders, a judge resentenced him in 2017. He received life, with a sentence review possible after 25 years.
This May, Phillips withdrew his request for that review. He said he still believed he could live a productive and meaningful life if released, but wanted to address concerns about his rehabilitation before returning to court.
Maddie would have been 36 this year.
