😂 Nick Ferrari bursts out laughing as Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds is forced to sell the latest government gimmick live on @LBC
Reynolds looked thoroughly embarrassed as he tried to sell the plan to scrap import tariffs on a list of “everyday essentials”.
When Ferrari asked him which products were included and what the actual savings would be, Reynolds immediately started dampening expectations, sheepishly admitting these were “not huge reductions” before reeling off the list: baked beans, chocolate, gherkins…
That’s as far as he got. Ferrari could not contain himself and burst out laughing. 😭
Nick then pointed out that the Conservatives have called the projected saving of £21 per year “derisory”.
You could see Reynolds was mortified reading it out. Imagine the brief he opened this morning and realised he had to go on air and sell this to the public. 😬
What a farce. Even on the government’s own figures, this works out at roughly 40p a week for the average household. Forty pence a week. You lucky people.
Another pointless gimmick that will have zero material impact on people’s lives.

The UK government has, since April, spent no less than £61 billion - that’s £61,000,000,000 - on debt interest payments.
That’s equivalent to our entire annual defence budget - on just half a year’s worth of debt service costs, not paying back a penny of our national debt.
For £61bn you could build 40 state-of-the-art hospitals.
Or employ 100,000 nurses for a decade
Or fund free-at-the-point-of-use social care, across the entire UK, for three years.

Giorgia Meloni just passed new measures that will end the “student protests” really fast.
If you take part in a violent demonstration, you face up to 5 years in prison and a fine of up to €20,000.
The sentence is harsher if faces are covered or people are injured.
Parents are now financially liable for the damage and vandalism their underage children cause.
Police can detain 14–17 year olds who pose a danger, even without a prior crime.
She also deployed 500 army troops to Milan alongside police to protect the city through the end of the year.
This is great. Now she just needs to mass deport them all!

Oil rose another 2.5% today. It's almost $104. If you think gas prices are high now, just wait until after the midterms when Trump has to turn off the spigots from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to keep it from running dry. Oil could hit $150, sending gas prices to record highs.
