There is! They're two different things. A w*ndigo is a spirit from Algonquin tribes. They are canniballistic spirits. Sk*nwalkers are from the navajo, and surrounding tribes, they're people who used knowledge for evil, turning them into shapeshifters

A w*ndigo has several different depictions, the one that I was taught was that they posess people who are so full of greed or do commit cannibalism they turn into one. They can also be seen as a spirit that posesses people

Take my description of a sk*n walker with a grain of salt, I'm not Navajo, or from a tribe with a major connection to them, so basically that's what I've heard about them through people I know

Reminder to every single one of you that dressing up as or portraying the w*ndigo as just a costume or something fun and scary is incredibly disrespectful to indigenous people, especially Algonquin tribes specifically. It is not a cryptid from pop-culture or a horror movie trope,

it belongs to legitimate spiritual traditions that are still living and carry real meanings. Indigenous traditions are NOT aesthetics or costumes.

Truly baffling that actually studying art styles that you admire, helps.
