I've spent 8 years working with founders, SMEs, and ecosystems across Northern Nigeria.
I've held conversations with hundreds of business owners. Assessed their numbers. Heard their stories.
Here's what nobody is saying loudly enough about Northern SMEs & Why we need to act!!

Nigeria has done three hard years of reform. The question NES#32 puts on the table is the one that matters to people: does that growth turn into jobs, into productivity, into better livelihoods?

Your employer is not your family.
Your family does not lay you off when Q3 numbers miss.
Love your job. Do great work. Build relationships. But keep your resume updated, your skills sharp, and your network alive.
Loyalty is a two-way street. If they can replace you in two weeks, you should be able to replace them in two weeks.
Whether the wife is right or wrong, I have no background context & I wasn't there, so Allah knows best.
But as a husband, if my mother-in-law talks to me in a rude way, there's no way I'm telling my wife "I don't like the way your mom spoke to me". Even if I must tell her, it'll be so subtle it wouldnt reek of disrespect. Something like "Babe, waya bata wa mama rai, munyi magana dazu naji Kaman ranta a nace"
Our parents are humans and they can make mistakes, but darajansu da qimansu a addini ba wasa ba.
We have varying degrees of responsibilities to our parents, our Wives and Husbands, none of which should be taken for granted.

Sheikh Aminu Daurawa on the Muslim-Muslim ticket in Nigeria:
“Whether it is Muslim-Muslim, Christian-Christian, Muslim-Christian or Christian-Muslim, it is all the same because it is politics.
There is no Islamic political party in Nigeria. Citizens have the right to choose whoever they want.”
— Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, during his visit to DW Hausa in Bonn, Germany.

British Airways and Norwegian Airlines made a bet that whoever lost at the World Cup had to change their profile picture to the other one for the day 😂
Allah tests us in many ways, every work day I drive from Gwarinpa Model City to Central area and I've never experienced any issue but today when I came out I realized the heavy downpour and so many stranded people looking for a way to commute to work amidst the heavy downpour and I offered about 5 people free lift.
Ladies and gentlemen, today my car was bashed, I was stopped by police and I got to the office very late.
Alhamdulillah ala kulli Hal.

The penalty was harsh. Senegal were robbed, and it is fair to be angry.
But here is the part nobody wants to hear on days like this:
Life will hand you decisions you did not deserve. A bad call, a biased panel, a door shut for reasons that have nothing to do with your effort.
You will not always get justice. What you do get to control is whether you build something so strong that one bad call cannot end you.
Do not leave the margin thin enough for a referee to decide your fate. Win by more, so the injustice cannot reach you.
This is one of the worst world cups ever how was this given as a penalty?? Senegal robbed in broad daylight man and they’re not the only country teapawt.net/wins_lfc/status/207245…
An incident that happened today just proved to me how terrible state police would be in this country.
A man in Kano visited his babe and while at her place, his bike was stolen. He used his influence and network within the force to arrest the tenants who were present at the time.
They're currently detained at the police HQ in Bompai for a crime they've not been proven to have committed. The unfortunate and disgusting part is that among the detained tenants are young ladies, with women and their children who are as I type this sleeping in police cell tonight.
All efforts to secure their release has proven abortive including getting a lawyer to secure their bail. This shouldn't be happening in 2026!

Remember flawless victory from mortal combat? If you know you know.
I once had a neighbour Malam Yusuf.
He worked for 31 years consistently.
Retired in 2019 with a gratuity, a retirement gift box, and a handshake.
By 2022, the gratuity was gone and he became flat broke.
This isn't just his story. It's a story that resonates with too many folks today.
The painful part of this story?
He isn't alone.
His peers & neighbors did the same thing.
So did Auntie Ngozi in Enugu.
And Danladi up in Kano.
Different tribes. Different religions. Different salaries.
Same outcome.
Because the problem was never the paycheck.
It was the financial education nobody gave them and you'd be surprised at the percentage of people in society who are financially unaware.
Why am I saying this?
I'm speaking about this to make sure that when your own retirement day comes, the only thing leaving with you isn't just a gift box and a handshake.
I'll be talking more about this and engaging financial experts to create more awareness about financial literacy.
Follow along. We're just getting started. 🤝

But here's where the story changes.
Their children, and we as a generation have something they didn't.
Information - Access and people willing to have the honest conversations about money that our parents never got.
We recently saw the stakes and investments the Dantata's have in Jaiz bank, how they're going to cash out & how they're future have been financially secured.
