Escape from New York was my first R-rated movie in a theatre. My uncle took me on opening night. I was 9yrs old, best uncle ever! This car lives near me, and I see it cruising through town on occasion.
Escape from New York (1981) was one of my favourite movies as a kid, and probably the first genuinely adult film I ever saw. I remember the excitement of watching something so violent, grimy, and unfamiliar. Carpenter perfectly captured the zeitgeist of a city on the brink of collapse, turning the crime, decay, and hopelessness of 1970s New York into a post-apocalyptic nightmare. For me, Kurt Russell’s Snake Plissken was the coolest bastard alive.

Lately, I'm seeing a lot of talk about zone-based combat in #DnD. I get the appeal, but I'll always prefer a grid. The strategic clarity of moving miniatures across a grid and planning for every square is a huge part of the fun for me, even if it does slow combat down a little.

Here are the latest completed illustrations for Ruins & Relics. Don't know what that is? In short it is a retro fantasy RPG inspired by the Basic D&D edition of the 80s. It is designed with new and younger players in mind. For free early access to the game see the comments below.
