What stirring of swearing, barking fools that listen less then the cement their minds are cast in. Blind sycophants of the corrupt in the hopes someone will notice, soon forgotten. Your feelings and opinions are fleeting, but facts are eternal. #canpoli

Such awful news from the military base at Wainwright, Alberta, with multiple lives lost and many badly injured. My heart goes out to families and friends, with impact across our armed forces. Immense gratitude to the first responders and medics on the scene.

Flock's CEO brags that cops can now use AI to search their database for most anything. Searches like "White van, spray paint." "Substitute white van for political protestor ... Trump supporter... And now you have a major problem," says @ChadAaronMarlow from @ACLU.

John Carpay joins @Harry__Faulkner to discuss Bill C-34, the federal government’s proposed Safe Social Media Act. The bill would ban children under 16 from social media, require platforms to verify or estimate users’ ages, and give a new regulator broad oversight powers. youtube.com/watch?v=3VxMH0Tp…

Prime Minister Mark Carney is pressing ahead with Bill C-34. The Safe Social Media Act would require age verification or estimation, create a powerful Digital Safety Commission, give inspectors sweeping enforcement powers, and threaten platforms with enormous fines. The Criminal Code already prohibits the sexual exploitation and abuse of children. Child safety must not become a pretext for mass surveillance and censorship. westernstandard.news/news/ca…

CBC spent years platforming the climate-and-labour orthodoxy that helped elect Mark Carney. CBC cheered the win. CBC cheered the floor-crossings and byelections that delivered the majority. CBC cheered the committee stacking that shut the opposition down. Now the same CBC is discovering, via Janyce McGregor, that the opposition is mathematically irrelevant and the sky is falling on their preferred causes McGregor’s report is the tell. Environment and labour groups are calling C-39 the “bulldoze nature bill.” The Bloc, NDP and Greens together hold less than 10 percent of the House. Liberals have the majority on committee. Conservatives say they would go further, not less. The Canadian Labour Congress is already prepping a constitutional challenge over the right to strike. McGregor notes, almost as an afterthought, that there is no easy path to amend the bill. Majority government reality check This is the same CBC whose editor-in-chief, Brodie Fenlon, has spent years insisting the network does not take sides. Fenlon: “That’s not our role.” Journalists must come to the story “with an empty notebook.” The job is a 360-degree view so Canadians can form their own opinions. Impartiality is the bedrock Fenlon also wrote that the Journalistic Standards and Practices “can and will evolve” after staff complained impartiality rules were distorting coverage of anti-Black racism. CBC climate journalism took sides and remains “a top priority.” CBC “does not itself designate” groups as terrorists. And in promotional videos he tells Canadians they never have to wonder what is real or fake if it comes from CBC News The pattern is not subtle. When the political project aligned with CBC newsroom’s priors, coverage treated process as progress. When the same majority now accelerates project reviews, creates “regions of national interest,” shortens consultations, and tightens federal labour rules so strikes can be ended for economic impact, the tone flips to alarm. The activists who were useful on the way up are suddenly the ones being “gaslit” Canadians can see the sequence. They watched the cheering. They watched the majority assembled. They watched the committees restructured. They are now watching the same CBC act shocked that a majority government is using its majority. And that is not an empty notebook. That is a newsroom that got the outcome it wanted... and is only now discovering the bill of sale @brodiefenlon

Not your usual traffic update. A hacked Ontario Line digital sign displayed profane messages attacking the government, mass surveillance & Flock cameras earlier this week. Metrolinx says it’s investigating. The incident is raising questions about the security of public-facing digital infrastructure, and surveillance cameras.

@Rogers You ought to have one of the worst customer service in the world. I have spent last 2-3 days trying to reach out to one of your agents to dispute a charge on my bill. I spend hours on the phone, your app. I still haven't got the help I need. @CBCNews @CTVToronto

First they said no digital ID plans. Now Carney and the premiers are launching digital verification for tradespeople in 2027. You won’t need a passport to travel between provinces… yet. But your work credentials will be digitally tracked. We built a country without needing government apps to earn a living inside our own borders. This is unnecessary surveillance dressed up as ‘efficiency’. #markcarney #digitalid

Canada has quietly signed the UN Cybercrime Convention, a treaty it once opposed given fears of expanded state surveillance. The US, Japan, New Zealand, and the Netherlands still haven't signed. Russia, China, and Iran signed on day one. What is happening? michaelgeist.ca/2026/07/a-su…
