The true cost of Elon's political misgivings today: Tesla closed at $344.69, down $40.50 from $385.19, about $160B in market value gone. SpaceX closed near $124.69, down $11.23 from $135.92, another ~$152B. Roughly $312B wiped out across both in one session.
Cheap @Tesla Cybertrucks, this is the calculation-
When announced in November of 2019, the $39,900.00 base model Cybertruck would have seen a price increase if delivered today, due to a cumulative inflation rate of 31.79% over the last seven years (3 Trump Years and 4 Biden Years and ack, Covid, Pandemic, Shut Down, Supply Chain nightmare stuff).
You would need $1.32 today to match the purchasing power that a single dollar had in late 2019.
$39,900 x 1.31 = $52,668 in today's dollars.
Tesla never delivered on it's promise.
The closest they came was $62,235. (After $1,995 destination fee and $250 order fee)
THEY could have sold 250,000 trucks a year at the $39,900 price if inflation hadn't killed it, especially if the tax credits were still around.
Democrats are talking about bringing forward a $10,000 to $15,000 Federal EV Tax Credit, and then buyers could add any State EV tax credit on top of that and suddenly a very affordable Tesla electric pickup truck exists, even starting at the $62,235 price.
Why is @elonmusk killing the $37,668 dollar (or cheaper with State Tax Credits) @cybertruck before it even has a chance to fly?
