The landscape looking up at the first turn at COTA has changed dramatically over the past 12 months thanks to the brand new clubhouse called “The Circuit”.

If each active title challenger finishes the 2026 US Grand Prix where they start, just one would be left standing against Kimi Antonelli…
…George Russell.
It would leave Antonelli needing just five points in Mexico to be crowned F1 champion regardless of what Mercedes team-mate Russell did.

Williams F1 star Carlos Sainz on the Qatar and Abu Dhabi Grands Prix 🗣️
Do YOU think we’ll see Formula 1 race there this year? 🤔
True sportsmanship 👏
It’s been an incredible 50 years since James Hunt became the 1976 F1 world champion.
The British driver beat Niki Lauda after the Ferrari star pulled out of the treacherously wet Japanese Grand Prix - Lauda admitted afterwards his prior near-fatal crash at the Nurburgring just months prior had spooked him enough to stop taking those kinds of risks.
Hunt on Lauda’s decision: “I feel really sorry for Niki. I feel sorry for everybody that the race had to be run in such ridiculous circumstances because the conditions were dangerous and I fully appreciate Niki’s decision. After an accident like he had, what else could he do?“
Hunt’s path to the title in Japan after Lauda’s withdrawal from the race still wasn’t easy.
He led easily in the early monsoon conditions, but when the track began to dry to started to slip back down the order.
His McLaren team attempted to warn him to cool his wet-weather tyre using the pit board, but Hunt carried on down the dry line, running his tyres way above their recommended temperature, seemingly oblivious to the warnings.
Eventually Hunt suffered not one, but two punctures and was forced to pit, dropping him down to fifth. He needed third to be champion.
By the final lap the Briton had successfully fought back to that crucial third position - something he had no idea about when pulling into the pits at the end of the race.
He was famously photographed shouting at his McLaren team believing they’d all thrown away the championship.
