Liz Truss claims the reason the Conservatives lost was because “we did not do enough to take on the legacy we’d been left, … like the Human Rights Act that made it very difficult for us to deport illegal immigrants”. Did she forget they inherited it from Winston Churchill?

I’m absolutely fuming that one of our A level students from last year has lost his University place as he was one mark short. When we queried why he didn’t get a mark we were told it was because he wrote “there is not enough evidence” instead of “there is insufficient evidence”.

I would add that a quick check of the specification has given me no evidence that candidates are required to use the specific wording of sufficient/insufficient nor is it indicated that this is the only acceptable wording in the dedicated text endorsed by the board that we use.

Looking at dictionaries and thesauruses, they all give “enough” as a synonym for “sufficient” and “not enough” as a synonym for insufficient. The student is an EAL student and this just seems petty.

Is there anyone @BBCNews with a GCSE pass grade in Maths? Or were they all on holiday today? This went out at 6pm and again at 10pm. What errors can you spot?

Creepiest leaving present ever? Two of my students have been rating my outfit every day for the past academic year. Today they gave me the book.

I’ve got a great example of a misrepresentation of statistics to use in tomorrow’s lessons.
**Have your say on technology in maths** If you teach maths in a UK school, college or early years setting, we want to know how, why and when you use tech in your teaching of maths. What has a positive impact on learning? @thejmcuk #digimathsUK2022 ucl.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/uk-m…

'My son, Jack, killed in this attack, would not wish his death to be used as the pretext for more draconian sentences or for detaining people unnecessarily.' Beautiful words from a grieving father. But @BorisJohnson instantly does what David Merritt begged politicians to avoid

I think this is my first ever retweet. This is my favourite quote, “If we vote to leave, that uncertainty won’t end the morning after the referendum. Even the most conservative estimates say it could take years to secure agreements with the EU and other countries.”
