It's so odd the people who NEED Sen.-elect El-Sayed to take the oath on a Bible. Think about what you're saying, stupid. You want him to swear an oath on a religious text from a faith other than his own. That would be like preferring someone swear on YOUR mother's grave instead of their own mom's. Does logic not even matter anymore? Y'all are just saying shit now and seeing what gets a reaction.

Sometimes I wish I had a "team" or at least a "camp" of people who defended me when people impugne my character but it is what it is. God gives us what we need when we need it and apparently, I don't need the backup or support right now. Keep pushing. – at Baton Rouge, LA

And finally, look, I'm not dismissing the concerns about specific issues. They matter and candidates have an obligation to address them head-on. But the reality here in Louisiana is that conservative Black Democrats have been asked to "just go with it" on issues they may not always agree with for the sake of the party for YEARS. In fact, they get shamed by certain other parts of the party as if because they're Black, they're SUPPOSED to have certain positions. And you know what? They typically take one for the team. Thousands of pro-life Black Democrats have been voting for pro-choice Democrats down here (and across the country) for generations because they were mature enough to understand that as important as abortion was to them, the other 10,000 issues we agree on matter too. And ironically, when it's a white conservative Democrat who's pro-life, there's a greater willingness to suck it up. But when it's a certain type of Democrat, that same grace is not extended. That's a losing mentality. And I don't have time for losing. We've lost too much. I am committed to fighting because this moment calls for it. I HOPE to see y'all in the fight. You know where I'll be.

The only downside of us still having two more congressional races to win is it's delaying a very long-overdue internal discussion we need to have as a party about how we move forward for 2027 and beyond. There's no real "break" until 2029 for us here but that's life. – at Baton Rouge, LA

But even now, the absence of that discussion is playing a role in how we're mobilizing for these 2 races. I just need Democrats to understand how power building works. We don't have the luxury to wait for the perfect. And we know Republicans sure as hell don't let that stop them. – at Baton Rouge, LA

Republicans would - and HAVE - run straight up sex predators as candidates and would do so unapologetically, arguing that as despicable as their Epstein-friendly candidate is, it's far better than voting for a DEMONCRAT!! We need to grow up. Life ain't fair. Work w what you got. – at Baton Rouge, LA

I get really irritated by a lot of the recent coverage of the U.S. Senate race down here because none of you actually covered what happened this year. We tried to get you all to cover what we were doing. We begged the press - the Louisiana political press - to cover the Democratic side this year and time and time again, y'all essentially said that it didn't matter because we weren't going to be competitive anyways. And now that we are, y'all are taking every opportunity to accept those national cable TV interviews to try to explain what's happening down here without having ever actually checked in with the folks on the ground who have been making this happen. This isn't a fluke. It didn't happen overnight. We're not simply riding a wave. We have been working our asses off all year - the candidates, the organizers, the volunteers, the individual donors, the party staff, the DPECs, the faith leaders, the civic groups - to make this possible. To diminish that work and the strategy that guided it to "Well, Jim, we're seeing this kind of thing happen everywhere" on CNN or Fox is insulting. This was EARNED. We didn't fall ass backwards into this. And I PRAY that when it's all said and done, no matter what happens tonight, the Louisiana political press and historians commit to actually telling the real story of the 2026 election here in Louisiana because it's worth telling and the people who shaped it are worth celebrating. Now, let's go bring this home. #GeauxVote

Started my Election Day off by having to chase a guy on a bike down the street after he stole stuff off my neighbor's yard right there in broad daylight. Bruh. – at Baton Rouge, LA

What Haley Stevens did today in Michigan would be akin to, oh let's say, a prominent elected Democrat in Louisiana helping Jeff Landry get elected in 2023 by undermining Dr. Shawn Wilson. – at Baton Rouge, LA

And mark my words: @HaleyforMI WILL switch parties next year because it's clearly about her. It's not about the issues. And when that's the case, the fact that most Dems won't want anything to do with her will make her feel like "Well, if they're going to be mean to me, might as well be a Republican." As if the differences between Dems and Republicans are superficial and insignificant. I feel for the Democratic volunteers and organizers who fought for her this year only to turn on the news and see this slap in the face. And she's never going to apologize, which is only going to further her feeling alienated. Trash. Such a trash decision from a petty, shortsighted politician who never believed the things she said on the trail. – at Baton Rouge, LA

The truth is Trump never cared about Louisiana or @JuliaLetlow. All he cared about was making sure @SenBillCassidy lost. As soon as that was accomplished, he said screw it. Republicans, you SHOULD be pissed. He skipped over every other Republican to anoint a relatively novice politician with no previous statewide electoral history. Of course she's struggling with fundraising. Of course she's struggling to connect. Her first statewide race is during a blue wave against an organized Democratic Party that would sell it's firstborn to win this seat. I hope this is a wakeup call for Republicans. You can still be conservative without hitching your wagons to a phony dictator who doesn't care about you and may have just singlehandedly set your party back a generation. That's kind of how Faustian bargains work tho...
