The SaneCite Campaign One report is out. Initial check shows 472 meta-analyses, systematic reviews and guidelines counted a retracted study as data: 507 inclusions of 395 retracted papers. sanecite.com

Today SaneCite publishes its Lists: the retracted papers that later work most often still cites as support, and the journals and authors that cite them. Every entry shows the citing passage, and the reply of anyone named. sanecite.com/lists

Emailing authors has been tried: RetractoBot, a randomized trial, sent 246,749 emails and found no effect on later citations. A public record, with the passage and a right of reply, is a different approach.

Under torture, the martyr Lucian answered every question with the same four words. Chrysostom explains why that was the wisest answer he could give. viapatrum.org/works/chrysost…

The church had written him off as a murderous robber chief. An old apostle got on a horse and rode into the mountains after him anyway. viapatrum.org/works/clement-…

In my experience blatant false teachers REALLY hate A.I. because it calls them on their nonsense.
MrSane’s position has stronger overall support. Biblically, Paul issues parallel warnings about unrepentant sin (including relational sins) blocking inheritance of the kingdom (1 Cor 6:9-10, Gal 5:19-21, Eph 5:5) and calls believers to forgive as God has forgiven them (Eph 4:32, Col 3:13). Positional forgiveness in Col 2:13 coexists with ongoing accountability, just as Jesus taught. Logically, this preserves Scripture’s unity without requiring two distinct gospels or programs. Historically, mid-Acts “right division” is a 20th-century development; early church fathers applied the Gospels and Sermon on the Mount directly to Christians and saw continuity between Jesus and Paul.

Every analogy @saylor uses to justify the ossification of $BTC backfires miserably.

Yes, it has. Greek was a lingua franca for Mediterranean trade and learning ~300 BCE–500 CE. Latin then dominated European academia and scholarship for over a millennium. French rose for diplomacy and commerce from the 17th century. English became the global standard for commerce, science, and academia after the mid-20th century.

Initial check shows that of 55,688 citations to retracted biomedical papers made after retraction, 40.7% cited the paper as support. Only 3.3% said it was retracted or unreliable. sanecite.com

When a journal retracts a paper, it should stop counting. It doesn't. Initial check shows 32,681 of 51,443 retracted papers were cited again after retraction, 263,666 citations in all. Method: sanecite.com/campaign-one.ht…

Does it matter why a paper was retracted? Not much. Initial check shows papers pulled for misconduct, fabrication or duplication were cited as support 41.2% of the time after retraction; honest error, 40.0%. Misconduct was flagged less: 1.9% vs 6.5%. sanecite.com

All you ladies want to be Ruth but can you bench 60lbs in a shawl? Ruth 3:15 "15Then he said, “Hold out the shawl you are wearing and grip it tightly.” As she held it tightly, he measured out about 60 pounds of barley into the shawl and put it on her shoulders."

Cyprian wrote this in 251, while a split was tearing his church apart. In the same passage he asks who could have survived outside Noah's ark. viapatrum.org/works/cyprian-…

It wasn't only him, every great spiritual teacher has always said something like "Don't look at me, find your own way etc." Jesus by contrast said "I am the way the truth and the life no one comes to the Father but through me." Which is why we Christians force the issue and insist that calling Jesus a "good moral teacher" is nonsense if He was lying about being God in the flesh. The evidence of the Resurrection shows He was not lying.
In 1909, on a beach in southern India, a man looked at a thin, quiet boy and announced he had found the next Messiah. The man was Charles Leadbeater, a leader of the Theosophical Society, who claimed he could see auras. The boy was the son of one of the Society’s employees. Leadbeater said the boy’s aura held no trace of selfishness. His name was Jiddu Krishnamurti. What happened next was one of the strangest projects in spiritual history. The Society’s president, Annie Besant, became his legal guardian. He was taken to England, educated, and trained for one purpose: to become the vehicle for the coming World Teacher. In 1911, they built an organisation around him, the Order of the Star in the East, with Krishnamurti at its head. It grew into a global movement with more than 43,000 members. A Dutch baron gave him a castle with 5,000 acres of woodland. In 1927, Besant declared publicly that the World Teacher was here. Thousands were waiting for him to speak as the Messiah. On August 3, 1929, at a camp in Ommen in the Netherlands, he finally did. In front of Annie Besant and about 3,000 members, he dissolved the entire order. "Truth is a pathless land," he told them. No religion, no sect, and no organisation could lead anyone to it. A belief could not be organised. He did not want followers. He gave back the castle. He returned the money and the land. People who had spent twenty years preparing to follow him were told there was nothing to follow. Think about what that took. He was 34. He had been handed everything a spiritual teacher could want: devotees, wealth, land, a global platform, and a ready-made identity as the saviour of humanity. And he walked away from the one thing almost nobody walks away from. Being someone. For the next 57 years, he travelled the world saying the same uncomfortable thing in a hundred different ways. No authority can see the truth for you. Not a guru, not a method, not him. You have to watch your own mind, the fear, the comparison, the endless striving to become something, until you see that the one watching is made of the same thing it’s watching. He put it in four words. The observer is the observed. Most of us are still waiting for someone to arrive. The right teacher. The right method. The day we’ll finally be ready. In 1929, the World Teacher arrived. And the first thing he did was send everyone home. Not because there was nothing to find. Because no one else could ever find it for you.
