I think there is room for good-faith conversations about historical diasporic conflict; I also feel like the memory of Damilola is being lost in the furore. Importantly, you’re doing a disservice to the history if the doc hasn’t inspired you to do more research into the case.

Stephen Lawrence, Damilola Taylor, Victoria Climbe, Anthony Walker, Khyra Ishaq are names, stories and legacies that changed me as a person. May they all continue to rest peacefully, such premature deaths.

I can’t watch the Damilola Taylor documentary because it just fuels too many memories growing up in the same area. I don’t know how it can have such an everlasting effect. I was 6 when he died.. 6. It was the first time I thought someone like me could die. I think that’s where my death anxiety stems from slightly.

Not understanding why people are using this new Damilola documentary to instigate a “woe is me” competition. Sometimes, just clean your ears, open them and then listen to the lived experiences that people had at the time.

I think Sabrina Washington might have a humiliation kink. That can be the only reason. The tickets for this solo tour that she’s just announced aren’t going to sell, lol. Would’ve been much better to execute this tour as Mis-Teeq.

Sway won a MOBO over a peak 50 Cent to become the best Hip Hop act — and those times, it would have been so easy to give it to 50 for many reasons. But Sway? Everything he did was to represent us. That’s just so tremendous to me.

Sway was a proper hero in this thing I deem Black Britishness, for me. His work was so inspiring, and thoughtful, and genuinely good hearted — and it always made me proud that a Ghanaian was doing it so well at that time. May he rest in peace ❤️

The news of Sway passing is incredibly sad. Used to listen to him when I was in school. Little Derek was a classic as well as the remix of New York him Bruza and Baby Blue did. Icon.

We are saddened to hear of the passing of British rapper Sway Dasafo. 🙏🏽 The British-Ghanaian rapper, producer and music executive was born and raised in North London by Ghanaian parents. Sway became one of the defining rap artists of his generation. He made history as the first unsigned rapper to win a MOBO Award and his debut album, ‘This Is My Demo’, earned critical acclaim. Sending condolences to his family and friends. 💔 Rest in Peace Sway

We’re deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Sway. 🕊️ In 2005, he made MOBO history, beating global heavyweights including 50 Cent and The Game to win Best Hip-Hop Act - a huge moment for Sway and UK Hip Hop. Proud to have him as part of our history. Our love goes out to his family, loved ones and fans. ❤️
