These are my favorite ideas from my conversation with @MrStand_Fast. Matthew leads Product Operations at Pickle Robot, where his team deploys and sustains robots that unload freight from shipping containers. Before Pickle, he scaled fleets at Ocado and Six River Systems. Before robotics, he served as a helicopter pilot in the US military. -> Product Operations is everything after the contract is signed. Deployment, support, maintenance, training, and customer success all determine whether the customer gets real value from the robot. For example, Pickle has reduced deployments to as little as six hours from arrival to the first pickl. Excellent Product Operations is what gets you the renewal. -> A Robot Operations Center (ROC) commands the fleet at three levels. At the robot level, it diagnoses individual failures. At the site level, it identifies environmental or operational problems. At the fleet level, it finds structural patterns that engineering needs to fix. The ROC is a remote command center that helps product operations scale! -> Optimize for repair time over failure rate To Matthew, a component that fails slightly more often but takes two minutes to replace can be better than one that takes 20 minutes. Pickle has maniacally focused on this: they standardize tools and bolts, make consumables easy to swap, and even rehearse failures at HQ before technicians ever reach the site. -> Utilization is the metric that matters most. Response time, resolution time, training numbers, and peak performance are useful, but they can easily become vanity metrics. When customers consistently use products and reliably achieve performance, you know it has become a key part of their operations. That utilization is what drives renewals, expansions, and referrals!

Imagine winning this hard. Impossible
Victor Glover (pilot of Artemis II) was already a spacecraft pilot for SpaceX Crew-1. He is a naval captain who has had his naval aviator wings for 25 years. He has three (3) masters degrees, including in flight test engineering and systems engineering. He's been a test pilot since 2007. He has thousands of flight hours.

Had some political drama at work today, and my boss was getting mad about the games being played. Told him “no one is shooting at us, and we get to sleep in our beds tonight” Once you live a life where those things aren’t guaranteed, it’s much easier to remain calm.

Former Blackhawk pilot here. I’ll try to describe it for you. Imagine you are looking at the world through toilet paper tubes, and everything is just different shades of green and black, with stars and ground lights hard to differentiate and aircraft lights that look the same as those. Then you have 3 different radio frequencies going off in your ears. Then you’re trying to navigate without any peripheral vision. And you’re trying to keep the aircraft under control. And you are trying to keep watch for all traffic, not just one plane. Because there are several in the sky at once and you’re tying to mentally keep track of all of them. And you get distracted for like 5 seconds or your focus goes elsewhere, like you instructor pilot asking you a question about airspace regulations. Boom. You’re all dead. Flying these machines is really tough, and the airspace and NVGs make it a heck of a lot tougher.

It’s 4:12AM. You just successfully transferred your sleeping kids from their beds to your warmed up truck. Your wife fell asleep in the passenger seat. Hot coffee in your mug. Nicotine in. WW2 podcast on. Dodging deer. Making record time. Peak Dad Mode.

🧵🚨 1. Everyone should know the story of Roscoe Filburn, a farmer from Ohio who found himself in the crosshairs of one of the most absurd federal overreaches in history. It’s a tale of government control over the most basic of American freedoms—growing your own wheat.

I have a simple rule. If you don't know who this is, you don't get to write online about time management and your "high performance schedule".
