Three years after October 7, we remember those murdered by Hamas and stand beside the families whose lives were changed forever.
I remember meeting Alon Ohel’s family, hearing their anguish and their determination to bring their son home. Alon, a citizen of both Israel and Serbia, is now reunited with them. Today, my thoughts are also with every family that will never have that embrace.
Serbs and Jews carry painful memories of persecution and loss. That history places a responsibility on us: to preserve the truth, confront antisemitism and protect the right of every family to live in peace and security.
To our Israeli friends: Serbia remembers with you. Our friendship endures.
May the memory of those murdered be a blessing.

My dad was super abusive and when my mom finally decided it was too dangerous to keep me and my siblings around him, she called the cops on him and we grabbed the bare minimum and went to leave. He was lying on the ground for some reason, and little 7 year old me decided (1/2)
