Awful. Beyond tragic. Beyond traumatic that some of these students are facing their 2nd TRAUMA of this. When will we stop accepting this?! Prayers for East Lansing and change thatβs overdue.

Standardized tests have no place in elementary education. Because testing becomes the focus of education instead of learning. We take away the fun and excitement of learning, playing, exploring, & creating. We create test takers instead of problem solvers and innovators.

On June 22, @khabylame became the most followed TikToker in the world. And he did it without words. βBody language is universal,β he says. βBy staying silent, I am understood.β

One of my favorite things to ask kids is "Are you stuck? Or are you thinking?"
I do this because it gives them agency in whether or not I support them. Sometimes, kids just need extra time to think--and if we intervene too soon, we diminish their agency.
I canβt wait to meet my new Firsties tomorrow at our meet and greet/supply drop off. I canβt wait to see the pictures they create and the growth they will make this year. #SmithSquad #birminghambrilliance @BirminghamPS @HarlanElem #PictureMeIn1stGrade

It takes a monster to kill children. But to watch monsters kill children again and again and do nothing isnβt just insanityβitβs inhumanity.
