Skai Jackson, the Hollywood actress who visited Kenya and said Kenyans have never seen a mirror, shut down her comments section for three good months after the backlash.
Yesterday she opened it again and found Kenyans had been patiently waiting on her for those three months…🤣🤣

The loneliest thing in the world is finishing a book and having no one to tell.

Our friends at @sojustbooks have a great explainer here! socialjusticebooks.org/about…
I was meant to spend my post gym high on just the early part of this movie but I'm fully invested in this. But my goodness I'm going to pay for this tomorrow.
Psychs tell me. Is there something about replaying a horror you commited. Perhaps through varying mediums of art? Can this happen on a collective level? What's the underlying subconscious goal because Hollywood is telling.
See Black Panther, Wakanda Forever, Avatar. Dune. Peace and harmony for generations. . . discovery of minerals. . . The world ends.
One oft notable thing about the oppressed (in sci-fi) is that they are attuned with nature, one with the land. Is this meant to be a kin to childlike naiveté that renders them predisposed to governance? Or is this an easy juxtaposition next to the protagonists greed?
🤣 Spice obessession but I bet people still won't seaso. . . Let me stop 🤣. The world has been down this road before.
Anyway, my nephew told me to watch Dune so I'm watching it. Is it this meant to be allegorical because I don't follow. Grok give me Sparknotes 😂. Where's mankind's existential crisis in this spice obsessed desert? Outside the blantent colonisation of neo Arabs I dongerrit.
How long has each author wrestled with the horrors of the figments of their imagination. Or could they see a truth some have yet to see
How far is Gilead really? When one combines a certain hemispheres tendencies on what's not the left of the political
spectrum, an ever lowering birthrate, and, a resurrgence of questionable biblical interpretations. Are we not closer than we think?
Dystopias soft launch The Planned. Some prepare the world for what's to come. Others fodder. But key canonical pieces have ushered in and ensured our familiarity with tenets of a looming new order.
Dystopias reveal each authors worst nightmare about just how depraved humanity can get. Some written so well they no longer dance between figment and reality. Rather they act like a foreshadowing of what's to come. George Orwell anyone?
Just got out of bed to go and watch random dystopia. Couldn't sleep so thought why not. Let me tell you I am here for them all. Did a literary module on them years ago while abroad and haven't let go since.

My hair looks raggedy today but I'm in a small English town so I said to myself "Whatever, I'll do it tomorrow. White people won't understand how much of a mess it is."
As soon as I stepped outside this white woman said to me "I love your hair it looks so beautiful" 😂😂ðŸ¤ðŸ¤
