A4: I have wanted to give up multiple times in my college career.. but one thought that has kept me going is knowing that there are Ss who a strong, Black woman who not only models how to be a better more accepting person, but believes they have the potential to do so as well.
There has been so many times in my life when I needed someone who understood my experience as a Black woman to advocate for me, and so often that didn’t happen. I’m going to make sure it does for my Black students. #ElonEd #BecomingATeacher
It's too simple.. but be willing to communicate and happily share the teaching process. Working alongside teachers, admin, and families makes your Ss lives so much better, and makes you a better educator in the long run. It takes a village. #ElonEd

Yes! And who's to say the world they are living in isnt "real"? We so often underestimate the reality that our students are living in. #ElonEd
A2: One of the most influential sections of #BecomingATeacher is when Ms. Hall says “I want to show them the real world, too. By showing mercy and grace”. Ss need to understand the pressures of the real world. But they also need to be met with respect and understanding.
I always feel slightly self conscious when I’m telling people I’m in school to be a teacher-- not because I’m not proud to be a teacher, but more so because I know how deeply misunderstood this profession is and anticipate the questions...
“how can you deal with hs students?” “how can you plan to work such an underfunded job?” “are you going to be poor?” Teachers rock and deserve all of the respect in the world. As #BecomingATeacher says on page 81, “Teaching is an extraordinary human career”. #ElonEd
