I am so appreciative of Chase Young presenting science of reading strategies at our PD today! He brought the energy and the research!
It’s always a joy to run into a friendly face at PD! #startedinIrving #nowwerehebisd
My husband has slowly acquired a pretty sweet collection of literary shirts. #ELAteacher #books #soccerseasostartsnow

Last week my family helped me set hang some posters in my new room & organize supplies. I’m truly looking forward to this upcoming year!
If you’d like to send some pencils, tissues, or hand sanitizer my way, I’d be so grateful! amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1Z…
This afternoon I was able to place these in my classroom! I am humbled and grateful!

Yesterday I spent about 6.5 hours working in my new room & contemplated why filing cabinets are so heavy as wells as why do I keep a filing cabinet. Yesterday 3 packages arrived from my wishlist, too! I’m so thankful!

I barely moved the filing cabinet since the dolly couldn’t handle its weight. It was ridiculous and now I have a nemesis. On the bright side, seeing that someone actually bought stuff from my list was incredible. Thank you guys so much for the support!
Also, does anyone know why filing cabinets are so heavy? It’s just filled with paper, hanging folders, and file folders. Can a science or math teacher make this make sense?

I went through a massive reading slump in 2014. Today I typically read 30 books in a given month. And I want to offer some practical suggestions on how to get back into reading, from someone who’s done it.

Joseph Campbell; reading is how we find our way in the dark

ALT “Sit in a room and read—and read and read. And read the right books by the right people. Your mind is brought onto that level, and you have a nice, mild, slow-burning rapture all the time … When you find an author who really grabs you, read everything they’ve done. And then you can go read what they read, and the world opens up.”
