In abid to improve specialized healthcare care for ears, @MulagoReferral has today launched free Audiology services.
The services being provided through an Audiology booth that is sound proof will enable specialists to accurately assess hearing loss in the middle & inner ear, providing reliable results to guide diagnosis and treatment.
Officiating over the event today at the ENT Clinic, the Executive Director Mulago, Dr. Byanyima Rosemary revealed that the equipment was procured at 217 million shillings and will help support patient care for ears.
Dr. Fred Bisso, Senior ENT Consultant, noted that the audiometer will not only support routine medical checkups but also ease the work of ENT specialists through reliable results in line with international standards.
The ENT Clinic attends to 100 patients daily conducting hearing assessments & treatment of ears loss both in children and adults. With the Audiology booth new born babies will be assessed at an early stage and guide on treatment related to hearing challenges.

Yesterday, we commenced the Annual Joint Health Sector Performance Review, reflecting on our mandate and the critical role the health sector plays in building a healthy, productive and responsive population. As a Ministry, we must deliver on our contribution to the national aspiration of achieving the 10-fold economic growth strategy. A healthy population is a productive population. This calls for strengthening sustainable health financing, with the National Health Insurance Scheme being a key pillar in ensuring sustainable financing and access to quality healthcare. We remain committed to driving this agenda forward.
We must equally prioritise health promotion and prevention by encouraging individuals and communities to take responsibility for their health and prevent avoidable, yet costly, diseases such as malaria. In maternal health, most causes of maternal mortality are preventable through timely and consistent utilisation of antenatal care, skilled birth attendance and access to essential maternal health services. This requires an integrated multisectoral approach, anchored at Parish level through functional Social Services Committees, to promote collective responsibility and improve health outcomes.
This Sunday, please join us for the second edition of the Neonatal run.
