District 2 will be in good hands with interim Commissioner Jesse Beason. Jesse is an outstanding community leader and advocate; he understands the issues that are at our forefront, and I’m confident that he’ll help move them forward.

There has been a sharp increase in violence and hatred over the last few years. If you've experienced acts of bias or hate, you are not alone. It can be hard to come forward, but there are people who can help. The more we stand up and speak out, the stronger we ALL are.
Multnomah County operates a Bias Response Hotline where trauma-informed operators are standing by 9am - 5pm on weekdays. You can leave a message after hours and you will receive a return call.
Interpreters are available in over 240 languages. Call 1-844-924-BIAS (2427).

Thursday was a wonderful afternoon in Cully as we opened the @PortlandCC Opportunity Center that combines workforce training with social support services. The pandemic was hard on healthcare workers, & it its vital we do more to encourage & support people entering those careers.

Glad to see this new partnership with Housing Connector @Connector_PNW come to fruition to improve housing coordination efficiency, increase available housing inventory, and connect people currently experiencing homelessness to long term housing.

Last night I was incredibly honored to receive the @BradleyAngle lifetime achievement award - particularly given that this was a room full of people who have spent their lives - whether as survivors or providers - working to address domestic violence. You deserve this award.
Poverty and economic instability increase the risk of violence & abuse, and can trap people in abusive situations. We have to get to economic justice for all who still sit on the margins of our economic system.

Yesterday was an exciting day as I joined faith leaders, community members, and @GovTinaKotek to celebrate Portsmouth Commons, a new affordable apartment complex for low-income veterans and their families in North Portland.
Our housing shortage combined with a lack of affordability is driving our homeless crisis. We all need to step up with innovative solutions. This is an example we can expand upon of government jurisdictions working with faith institutions to create more affordable housing.
To learn more about the path to building Portsmouth Commons & similar initiatives in the works, I recommend reading the recent @Oregonian article below.
