Musicians who only listen to nerdcore/video game music/FNF/etc will never sound as good as they could if they listened to more major-label mainstream music. There's a level of quality of music production in the traditional major-label music industry that music in the nerdcore, FNF, UT, and other fan music scenes (myself VERY much included) does not reach, bc we don't have the decades upon decades of experience and huge teams of masters of their craft working together. When you listen to THAT stuff and use it as the goalpost for how your music can sound, you aim a lot higher. This is not me saying "nerdcore music is badly produced" or that you shouldn't listen to it. OBVIOUSLY i love it. This is me saying "if you only ever watch youtube fan films of stuff, you might be missing out on what filmmaking could look like."
