Right now, orchestra, choir and soloists are rehearsing for Lamentations of Jeremiah — a powerful new oratorio setting the entire biblical book of Lamentations to music for the first time in modern history.
The world premiere is this Sunday, April 26, at 2:00 p.m. in Armstrong Auditorium (ArmstrongAuditorium.org)
Inspired by the silence Malone experienced in Jerusalem right after the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas attacks, the work blends classical orchestration with Middle Eastern modes and is sung in both English and Hebrew.
