MHSAA 🏈 DISTRICT SEMIFINALS - Quick look at the opening round matchups for Muskegon County teams. DIVISION 2: Traverse City Central (4-5) @ Mona Shores (8-1) - Fri 10/30 @ 7pm OUTLOOK: Will be the 21st meeting of these former LMAC conference foes from the 70’s & 80’s. While TCC has dominated the all-time series (17W-3L) - most recently Mona Shores defeated the Trojans in a 2022 D2 district semifinal, 48-20; and in the 2020 D2 semifinals, 43-30. No common opponents between these two in 2026. The overall 7-seed in D2 and 3-seed in the region, Mona Shores should be pretty heavily favored in this one. The Sailors have rattled off 8-straight wins following a last-minute loss to the defending D2 champs in Week 1, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s. Meanwhile, TCC snuck into the postseason with a 4-5 record, is the 8-seed in the region, and ranks 28/32 in the D2 field. Shores/TCC winner will face the winner of East Lansing @ Caledonia in the Reg 1 - District 2 final. 2026 MHSAA Playoff Pairings - Division 2: Mona Shores & Muskegon land on opposite sides of D2-Region 1: @OnMuskegon will visit a familiar OK-Green foe and the region's 1-seed, Byron Center. @MSSailorFball will host 4-5 Traverse City Central. Winner likely to face Caledonia.

2026 MHSAA Playoff Pairings - Division 4: In D4 - Reg 1 - Dist 1, Fruitport will make the run up US-31 to visit Ludington. In the other district of Reg 1, the Trojan's old rival across the bayou, Spring Lake, will open @ Unity Christian. @FRTPRT_FTBLL @LudingtonHS_FB

2026 MHSAA Playoff Pairings - Division 5: Orchard View lands #2-seed in D5-Reg1-Dist2 and will host Remus Chippewa Hills to open postseason. Winner will get winner of Ogemaw Heights & Reed City. Other side of Reg 1 contains D5's only undefeated - Kingsford. @OVCardinalFB

Final projected playoff picture for Muskegon Co. teams heading into tomorrow’s selection show. Based on final PoP totals from MHSAA. No real surprises. Muskegon lands 30th in D2 despite 4-5 record & Wk9 loss - strength of sched. the big factor. Region seeding tomorrow evening!

FINAL: Clarkston - 24 Muskegon - 7 Big Reds finish 4-5 on reg season. Despite being 33rd ranked in D2 thru WK8 and taking a loss tonight, Muskegon is expected to make the playoffs on points garnered from playing strong D1 opponent in Clarkston. They await Sunday’s selections.

FINAL: Reeths-Puffer - 28 Whitehall - 12 RP closes reg season at 4-5. Postseason unlikely for the Rockets, but there is an outside possibility. Whitehall finishes disappointing season at 2-7. Lost some close games to strong teams, incl. 1-pt losses to Swan Valley & Ludington.

Spring Lake could surprise and win a few playoff games in D4 if they get in. Most of their losses have been to good teams and relatively close games. Definitely an impressive win over Zeeland West.
