** Ethereum Tops the SEC Decentralization Test **
Ethereum sets the benchmark under the SEC’s updated Crypto Guidance. By the SEC’s own standards, Ethereum Is the Most Decentralized Network.
Canton lags in a scoring analysis against the latest @SECGov Crypto FAQs. Ethereum 9.7, Everyone Else Behind.
⊢ recap of @VitalikButerin's session at cypherpunk congress today:
post-quantum is not enough anymore. think post-ai cryptography.
hashes and symmetric encryption look safe.
ECDSA breaks with quantum and looks shaky against ai.
pairings like BLS look the weakest.
lattices and FHE hold against quantum but look shaky against ai.
no total break expected. keys just get bigger.
64 bytes could become 512.
if you can use hash-based, you should.
offchain privacy still needs public-key encryption, FHE and ideally obfuscation.
his options:
↳ bigger keys, two algorithms at once, and less data.
encrypted notes onchain can be read later if ECDSA breaks.
better:
↳ send the note offchain, claim onchain.
derive app keys with hardened paths from your seed.
mixnet nodes can keep packets and read them later.
tor has similar properties.
- proofs okay
- backdoors risky.
and leanseal:
↳ time-lock encryption from hashes alone, with @QuangVDao and @drakefjustin
special thanks to @web3privacy

I warned you all about this.
They will be lying. The actual goal of the big AI providers will be to outlaw open-source and open-weight AI in order to create a regulatory moat around their business, and have some hope of earning out their astronomical capital expenditures.
The claims will be about safety and equity, the reality will be a money and power grab. Brace for the bullshit avalanche that's coming.
🚨BREAKING: OpenAI is preparing a policy and PR blitz immediately after Tuesday’s midterm elections, Axios reports. As public backlash against data centers grows, it wants to rebrand them as “AI compute campuses” and push Congress for mandatory “speed limits” on the most powerful AI systems. It has been stockpiling proposals since August.
OpenAI is also preparing for the possibility of Democrats taking the House and wants to shape the debate ahead of the 2028 presidential race. Its chief global affairs officer Chris Lehane told Axios: “AI is going to be the issue in 2028.”

Ethereum's affordances are unusually powerful for agents 🤖
- Social proof and mathematical verification of the chain's (future) existence
- Discrete state updates
- Provable canonicity of sets stored onchain

"From a global allocation perspective, actually, it’s quite terrible to have everyone have a bunch of the world’s limited supply of DRAM sitting in their own computer."
Might actually be one of the most evil quotes we've ever heard. Like actually bone-chillingly evil.

I’m not sure we want a small group of people with a particular set of strongly held moral convictions to surveil and control what is becoming our thought space
We’ve trained Claude to flag potential misuse in conversations, a technique we call self-assessment. Right after it responds, Claude gives a preliminary safety assessment of the conversation.
Since we began using self-assessment in June, it has surfaced misuse that our other safeguards weren’t designed to catch.
Because Claude has already read the conversation, self-assessment is very efficient. And unlike classifiers, which target a discrete set of harms, it draws on Claude’s own judgment, so it gets more accurate as our models improve.

Just giving this a wee nudge today...
✍️ Britain does have an economic model. It just happens to be a consumer website.
I wrote something about the moneysavingexpert economy and why it's facing an existential crisis. And why this isn't just a UK issue...

there is no funding crisis I love you
and if there is, solve it by making ETH the most adored asset in crypto that everyone wants to buy
not by printing more, which is a downward spiral to nowhere
Does the EF funding crisis stand up to scrutiny ?
The EF currently holds 170k $ETH, 70k of which is staked generating 2.1k ETH annually. The remaining 100k Eth is partially held in liquid staking, also generating yield.
They also $32 million held in stables.
Considering all this, the EF aims to keep operational expensesat 15% of current total treasury, with a 2.5-year fiat/stablecoin runway buffer, with a long term goal of reducing this over 5 years to a 5% baseline
So the circulating $30 milliom yearly bill for funding EF will go down to $10 million.
As of right now, the EF has enough funds to run for at least 30 years, so there is zero funding crisis.

Step 1: cashless society
Step 2: grant the state power to raid your bank account for taxes
Step 3: keep raising taxes to fund their bloated welfare state & permawars abroad whenever they like, ad infinitum
Step 4: empty your bank account via fines for political dissent when you oppose any of this
Step 5: Switch your bank account off entirely, once the government designates you an ‘enemy of the state’
These Labour Party maniacs worship the state, because they worship power.
They must be stopped.

welcome to life kids, here’s your screen. you absolutely have to learn how to use this thing because your entire professional and social life will be plugged into it. just don’t get lost in the infinite addiction portal that is also on there for some reason haha ok kids have fun
This is an incredible project: NBC News asked parents to check their kids' YouTube history during school hours — and the results show kids are spending huge chunks of the day watching videos that have nothing to do with learning

This is going to be an NGO slush fund. This is a bribe to left-wing politicians to get them on board with AI so that will follow Anthropic's lead on any policy or regulation.
Between this and our prior commitments, roughly 20% of all Anthropic equity will be dedicated to the public good, and that commitment can grow as Anthropic grows.
We plan to use these funds to ensure more people can share in the benefits of AI, and to increase our ability to provide funding to deal with its risks.

The elites of Victorian Britain got up late, drank ceaselessly, worked short hours, partied through the night, and knew nothing about science, technology or engineering. And yet, by their own lights, they were hugely effective.
worksinprogress.co/issue/the…
The Victorians are often held up as a model against the supposedly soft, feckless, humanities-educated elites of today. But I argue that the genius of their system may have been its drastic weighting towards soft skills, team-building and intra-elite networking:
- A Victorian’s gentleman’s office hours typically began about 11am and finished about 5pm, including a multi-course lunch with wine.
- Upper-class Victorians drank ceaselessly. Conduct guides recommended four or five glasses of wine at dinner *for married women*. Port was often served in pints.
- Party culture was intense and nocturnal. Balls started at about 10pm, peaked after 1am, and continued till dawn. During the social season, bankers, judges and politicians might go to several balls per week.
- Elite Victorians learnt almost no STEM at school or university. At least half of class time was given over to ancient languages, often as much as 80 percent. One leading educationalist remarked that it was not worth teaching science to gentlemen because it does not involve ‘continued reasoning’.
- Sports and character formation were valued far above transmitting facts. A top headmaster described his school’s priorities as ‘First – character, second – physique, third – intelligence, fourth – manners, fifth – information’.
This cannot have made elite Victorians more productive individually, but maybe the dense social and emotional network it created helped them to work as a sort of extended team.
Perhaps we should think again about what makes groups of people effective.

Vitalik: AI Will Become the New UI
On October 6, 2026, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin @VitalikButerin said at OKX NOW @okx in Singapore that AI will become the new user interface in more and more scenarios. He shared how a local AI agent wrote a script to update his ENS hash in about five minutes, and said performing complex blockchain operations without a traditional UI will become normal.
This could reduce security risks associated with traditional frontends, while introducing new challenges such as prompt injection, AI safety, and whether agents correctly understand onchain operations.
