So much going on, but don’t forget advance care planning. Thanks to leadership by Maryland officials, Advance Care Plans can be automatically accessed in electronic medical records, but only if people create them. This is where @CareFirst can prioritize people’s care first!

In late April, @DrElizPC and I wrote to Maryland @CareFirst CEO Brian Pieninck asking him to urge beneficiaries to update, upload, or create their Advance Care Plan. That’s what we doctors and nurses need to do our jobs better. We’re hoping to hear back soon!

Hospital ER and ICU staff are constantly asked during #COVID-19 how people can help us do our jobs better. It’s simple: tell us your goals of care and who speaks for you, if you can’t speak yourself via an Advance Care Plan and an advance directive.
