I’m Kevin Howell, founder of The One-Eyed Scout. I evaluate basketball players and help coaches understand who can help them win. I look beyond the highlights—how a player defends, makes decisions, competes, and treats teammates. I also help families understand where their player stands and what needs to improve. My job is to give an honest evaluation and back it up with what I see in the gym.

6'3 Ah’Jaylyn Walker @JWALK316 | Wichita Heights (KS) | 2028 | ★★
Sophomore Season: 8.0 PPG | 2.2 RPG | 1.3 APG | 0.6 SPG
Walker is a well-rounded two-way guard with good positional size who plays with impressive poise and control for a 2028 prospect. The lefty rarely looked rushed, consistently playing within the flow of the offense and showing an unselfish approach with the basketball. Rather than forcing his own opportunities, Walker showed a willingness to make the right play and keep the offense moving.
From the sample I saw, Walker was also a reliable perimeter shooter and gave the defense another reason to respect him away from the basket. His impact carried to the other end, where he took pride in defending and competed consistently. The combination of size, shooting, composure, unselfishness and defensive mentality gives Walker a strong foundation as a young two-way guard with plenty of development still ahead.

6'2 Tristian Ladd | Norman (OK) | 2027 | ★★
GPA: 3.0 @TrisLadd1
One of the stronger point guard prospects in attendance, Ladd consistently showed an ability to get downhill while using angles exceptionally well to reach his spots. He played with good feel and efficiency, rarely looking rushed or forcing possessions. When the defense collapsed, Ladd remained composed and consistently made the correct decision with the ball.
He also proved reliable from three, knocking down catch-and-shoot opportunities at a consistent clip and giving defenders another reason they couldn’t simply sit on the drive. His combination of downhill creation, decision-making and dependable perimeter shooting made him a steady presence throughout the showcase.

6'5 Matthew Widtfeldt | Lovejoy HS | 2027 | ★★
@MattWidtfeldt
Extremely serviceable two-way player who impacts the game in a variety of ways. Widtfeldt does just about everything well and has developed into a knockdown shooter. His athleticism and shooting have noticeably improved, adding another dimension to an already extremely high-IQ player.
Defensively, Widtfeldt is consistently active in the passing lanes and is a strong on-ball defender. He anticipates actions, competes and uses his size well on the perimeter.
Offensively, he understands where to be, makes winning decisions and doesn't need the ball in his hands to positively impact possessions.
At 6'5 with legitimate two-way versatility, shooting ability and feel for the game, Widtfeldt brings a skill set that should continue translating as the level of competition increases.

LAST CALL | RUN Showcase Evaluations
Closing this one out with the final six.
Going through 20+ players from one event takes some time, but I wanted to give each player a real evaluation instead of rushing content out just to be first.
This last group had a lot of young talent. Guys who competed, showed real flashes and gave me something to keep an eye on moving forward. Some are more polished than others, but that’s what evaluation is about — seeing where a player is right now while recognizing what he can grow into.
Appreciate @94ftExposure for having a gym full of players worth evaluating, and every player who competed.
That officially wraps my RUN Showcase evaluations. Back to the watchlist. 🎯

Thank you @94ftexposure and @NCPHoops_ for the evaluation! Had a great time at the R.U.N Showcase in OKC!
@PrepHoops @PrepHoopsKS @HartfordJagBB @runshowcase
Another group from the RUN Showcase.
The more I go back through this event, the more I appreciate the amount of talent that was in the building.
This group had a good mix. Some proven production, some intriguing size and athleticism, some tough guards, and a few guys whose best basketball is clearly still ahead of them.
One thing I try to be intentional about with these evaluations is looking beyond who scored the most points. How do you impact winning? What happens when the ball isn’t in your hands? What skill can you hang your hat on at the next level?
These six all gave me something worth taking note of.
Full evaluations above. More to come.

5'10 Jaydin Araujo (@Jaydin_Araujo1 ) | Wichita Southeast (KS) | 2027 | ★★
GPA: 3.2 | ACT: 18 | SAT: 1000
Junior Season: 14.0 PPG | 3.3 APG | 2.5 RPG | 1.6 SPG
Araujo is a fiery, confident guard who plays with a noticeable edge and brings a bulldog mentality to the floor. He’s a willing passer who can create for himself or others, using his handle and aggressiveness to consistently generate opportunities in the half court. A capable shooter, Araujo has to be respected from the perimeter and shows no hesitation taking big shots.
His competitiveness and toughness separate him. He plays with the type of personality that gives a team energy and consistently looks comfortable with responsibility in his hands. A confident lead guard who isn’t afraid of the moment.

5'10 ZayBreion Cooper | Liberty-Eylau HS (TX) | 2027 | ★★ @BreionZay40270
HEART OVER HEIGHT. Cooper plays considerably bigger than his 5'10" frame and brings an edge that immediately changes the energy of a game. Defensively, he picks up full court and regularly creates mayhem with his pressure. Opposing guards often looked to give the ball up early rather than deal with him for 94 feet, and his competitiveness consistently made him
a disruptive presence on that end.
Offensively, Cooper is a firecracker — super quick, extremely shifty and equipped with an elite handle that was among the best in attendance. He consistently broke down defenders and created opportunities for teammates, with a boatload of potential assists going unfinished after he had already done the work to create the advantage. As a scorer, Cooper heats up quickly and possesses legitimate shooting ability well beyond the three-point line, extending comfortably toward volleyball-line territory. His combination of toughness, speed, creation, shooting and relentless defensive pressure makes his impact much bigger than his measurements.

I enjoyed competing in the @94ftexposure @runshowcase Thank you for a great event and to all the coaches who came out!
@KarsenRamsey is a physical, high-motor 2027 prospect whose impact extends well beyond the scoring column. He brings an intriguing combination of size, strength and toughness to the backcourt, using his physicality to get downhill, create for others and make plays through contact. Defensively, he competes with purpose and has the versatility to disrupt multiple perimeter positions. The next step in his development will be becoming a more consistent perimeter shooter while continuing to tighten his handle and decision-making as a primary creator.

6'2 Shawn Hall | Liberty-Eylau HS (TX) | 2028 | ★★★
@Shawn_Hall2028 @LibertyEylauAth
One of the most promising prospects in the building. Hall scored the ball in stretches, but it was his other superpowers that stood out. Even while his offense was struggling, he remained extremely unselfish and consistently created opportunities for teammates rather than forcing his own shot. The jumper wasn’t falling at his normal clip, but Hall still showed an efficient ability to get to his spots and continued to impact the game without needing to score.
For a 6'2" guard, Hall rebounds like a post player. He secured at least five rebounds in each scrimmage and consistently attacked the glass with toughness and anticipation. Defensively, he was a dog — arguably the best combination of on-ball and off-ball defender in attendance. Hall wreaked havoc on that end throughout the camp, applying pressure, disrupting actions and consistently making things uncomfortable for opposing offenses. His ability to affect winning even when his shot isn’t falling speaks volumes about the versatility of his game.

Thank you @NCPHoops_ for the write up!
Round 2 of my evaluations from the RUN Showcase.
A few of these guys I knew coming in, a few I had heard about, and a few completely got on my radar that day.
That’s really why I enjoy getting in these gyms. You always leave knowing a few more names than you came in with. And sometimes the kid you came to see isn’t the kid you leave talking about.
There was real talent throughout this event — from older guys who can help a college program to younger prospects that are just starting to scratch the surface.
Exposure matters, but being seen is only part of it. Being properly evaluated matters too.
Full evals above. More coming.
