✊Our members at @TheBMA are back out on the picket line and they won’t back down. They’re striking for a better pay deal for themselves and their colleagues. It’s time for BMA management to listen & put an improved offer on the table. Enough is enough. No more pay erosion. #FairPayattheBMA

BMA staff are asking all @TheBMA representatives to not cross any of our @GMBLondonRegion picket lines On 30th April a virtual event has been arranged for LNC Chairs as a result of LNC Chairs Conference being cancelled Attending this would still be crossing a picket line 1/
🚨UPDATE ON FURTHER @GMBLondonRegion STRIKE DATES @TheBMA staff are taking strike action on 30th April & 2nd May 2026 - coinciding with LNC Chairs & Med Students Conferences The untenable approach of BMA CEO and Board is denying BMA members their conferences #FairPayattheBMA 1/

🚨BREAKING: GMB London Region will ballot 400+ members working for the British Medical Association after pay talks at Acas broke down. The revised offer still leaves many facing real-terms cuts, with morale already low amid a restructure that could mean job losses. #MembersFirst #GMB #FairPay

RIP Rick Buckler 🥁
I'm shocked and saddened by Rick's passing. I'm thinking back to us all rehearsing in my bedroom in Stanley Road, Woking. To all the pubs and clubs we played at as kids, to eventually making a record. What a journey! (1/4 - P.W)

Who wants to tell her? I believe we 'got our country back' Allison.
Dear HM Treasury, It is illegal in the EU to tax education. School fees are not a “tax break”. Parents have already paid for a state-school place. Stick to being sh1t at running the economy.

An interesting thread given some of the post Budget hyperbole on this issue........
The Country Land and Business Association says the new £1m cap on agricultural inheritance tax relief will "harm 70,000 farms". That's 1/3 of all farms. What does the actual data show? Less than 500 farms/year will be pay more tax as a result of this change every year. Possibly as few as 100.

UK Govts tried to convince people we could have northern European levels of public services and welfare, funded by North American levels of taxation. The result has been a crisis in health & social care, and in public services. This budget is a clear step in the right direction.

I've been asked what my favourite commentary is on the budget and it's unquestionably this exchange.

Is there any particular reason that Rishi Sunak didn't like a budget that scraps non-dom status and penalises people who travel by private jet?
