Wasserman is in Nebraska. It’s like when the Weather Channel comes to town, but for politics.
My personal hunch: if you're looking for upsets, they're more likely to be in places w/ lots of secular whites & independents (i.e. the Midwest) than in the Deep South. Not totally unrelated: my lunch locale today.

Not only is @joemitchelliowa an absolute dweeb … apparently he is also a racist, misogynistic asshole. If you haven’t donate to @Lindsay4Iowa right now would be a great time to start and ensure this loser doesn’t end up in Congress.

Holy shit. I've been saying Joe Mitchell in #IA02 is a groyper chud for months, but it's so much worse than I imagined. Mitchell is a weird, insecure, racist, incel freak who likely became far-right because he couldn't find a girlfriend and now wants to take it out on all women.

Note the "IMAGES MADE WITH SUPER INTELLIGENCE" disclaimer in the bottom right corner. We need to ban AI in political advertising.
#IAPol: "What do you really know about Rob Sand? He was a European model, for real. Rob called himself extremely liberal in college." Zach Lahn is up with a new #IAGov ad. The ad includes an "Images made with Super Intelligence" disclaimer. Future reservations: 🔵$1.8M 🔴$474K

Pillen +6 seems about right to me for #NEGov. I think the only thing that'd make a big difference for Lynne Walz in the last two weeks would be a Super PAC spending 7 figures to boost Brett Lindstrom to siphon support away from Pillen.

SCOOP: Major U.S. banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, including some attempting to take actions that appear to be independent of user instructions, sources told Axios. The findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond, multiple industry and bank executives told Axios. Several banks are now preparing for worst-case and even “day after” scenarios, including how to rapidly secure or restore customer accounts if things go wrong, the people said. Several bank executives told Axios they're struggling to distinguish between human users and AI agents. One executive said banks also struggle to determine whether agents are authorized by customers or potentially operating without their permission, more akin to rogue agent behavior. Mallory McMorrow would’ve been an incredible Senator and deserved much better than the cards she was dealt. I’m thankful to see her stay in the fray and hope she runs for something again soon.
As one of the candidates featured in these polls - the infamous one in late June that showed me plummeting into single digits (which was at odds with our internals) - here's the impact of this "experiment" - Donations dried up - Volunteers were devastated and pleading for guidance on what to do - Reporters hounded me with calls to drop out Sure, a point was proven. Polling is broken. But tens of thousands of people poured their hearts, time, energy, hard-earned money into something they believed in - for a year-and-a-half, and it was treated like a game. Our volunteers gave their all. And then some. I felt like I had let so many of them down. To be extremely clear, Michigan Democrats are locked in to beat Mike Rogers. We WILL send @AbdulElSayed to the US Senate. But between crap like this, endless fundraising texts that drive supporters away with spammy fake deadlines and trash "match" claims, scam PACs run rampant for firms to grift without actually supporting candidates, undisclosed content creators pushing content out either misrepresenting themselves as residents of states they don't live in or hiding whether they were paid and by who so they could make a buck, and the tidal wave of dark money ads -- I hope Democrats are ready to blow up the system with campaign finance and transparency reforms. Trust is already at an all-time low. We don't get out of this mess without rebuilding trust. And media - who loves to ride the drama of a pollercoaster - needs to take a hard look at what's legitimate and what's not. If this teaches us anything - DON'T GET COMPLACENT AND DON'T TRUST THE POLLS. LOCK IN. SIGN UP FOR A CANVASSING SHIFT. LEAVE NOTHING TO CHANCE OVER THE NEXT TWO WEEKS.

If Jolly wins thanks to Nixon turning out low-propensity young, Latino and Black voters, then even if she loses her own race, she'll have saved her state and accomplished something historic.
On August 18, when given the choice between Angie Nixon and Alex Vindman, a stiff, poll-tested moderate of the kind Democrats have been foisting upon Floridians for years, voters chose Nixon by a decisive 12-point margin. The result shocked national commentators. It was a testament to how poorly Vindman understood Florida — “He says he’s lived here for three years,” Nixon says, “but I had never heard of him” — that he failed to see what was obvious on the ground: Democratic voters were fed up with the status quo. Nixon, a dynamic 42-year-old Black single mother turned union organizer, has premised her Senate campaign on the idea that GOP rule in Florida has been a disaster. The Democrats’ go-to response over the past 30 years has largely been to run the most anodyne candidates they can find, only to watch the state become redder. Nixon has taken the opposite approach, seizing on a polarizing agenda of bigger government and universal programs that pundits long assumed would exclusively resonate in deep-blue states like New York. What makes Nixon different, according to people who know her, is that her public brawling is matched by her shrewdness and stamina as an organizer. “Angie won the Democratic primary because she has been knocking on doors, talking to people, alongside people, for decades,” says educator and writer Phillip Agnew. She is unafraid to talk to anyone. The public line is that she’s running to win this election, even if the polls say that result is unlikely. But no matter the outcome, she is providing a template for the kind of durable grassroots operation Democrats have neglected when running in Florida.
