Coming in 2027: The Nebraska Humane Society Pet Wellness Center
We cannot overstate how excited we are to share this news! We are transforming the Spay & Neuter Center into a low-cost Pet Wellness Center (PWC).
Ruby Tuesday is today's featured dog for Adopt A Shelter Dog Month! This cutie is an excellent car rider and takes treats nicely! She's heartworm positive, so she has to keep some distance from other pups so she doesn't get too excited.
Petra is today's featured dog for Adopt A Shelter Dog Month! She had a great outing to Omaha Public Library today for their Adopt a Plushie event. She LOVES zoomies and meeting new friends!
Ann is a perfect example of the good that still exists in this world, and we're so thankful for everything she has done over the years 馃挏
Reminder that NHS adoptions will close at 4 p.m. Friday as we celebrate our annual Howl-oween Bash! 馃巸
It's National Make A Dog鈥檚 Day, a day created by Subaru to encourage dog lovers to do something special for their dog, or to consider adopting or fostering a dog in need!
We have so many incredible dogs here at NHS. Help make today their best day by giving them a loving home! 鉂わ笍

We don't know if there's an award for "most boopable snoot," but Ebie is definitely a top contender. She's also today's dog of the day for Adopt A Shelter Dog Month!
It's National Community Cat Day! 馃悎
So far in 2026, our Community Cat Program has altered and returned over 500 cats and adopted out an additional 60 working cats. Since the program began in 2023, we've altered and returned over 2,000 cats and found homes for 240 working cats!
Say hello to Ruby, today's featured dog for Adopt A Shelter Dog Month!
This girl is a whole bunch of fun in one plump package. She can be a little nervous when meeting new people, but once she warms up, you鈥檒l see how much she really shines. 鉂わ笍
We have over 150 animals up for adoption! Good thing our PAW-loween adoption special starts today! Come meet all these cuties and see if we have the one for you.
Remember, dogs 31lbs+ and all cats have $31 adoption fees through October 31st! Who would you take home?
Who's joining us this weekend for our tattoo fundraiser at Tenth Sanctum? Here's a peek at some of the designs that will be available - more still to come!
Have you ever seen a dog with cuter markings paired with a great set of sticky-uppy ears? We think not! Say hello to Sleepy, our featured dog today for Adopt A Shelter Dog Month! 馃挙
Got a soft spot for the shy ones? Boy do we have the guy for you! Rodan is today's featured dog for Adopt A Shelter Dog Month, and he is as sweet as he is handsome...but there's a catch. Rodan is super nervous of pretty much everything.
Rodan originally came to us as a stray. We don't know his history, but we do know that the world is big and scary and he's not quite sure what to do about it. Luckily, it doesn't take much to win his trust.
