DEA in @CDCgov art.: Abt. 75% of drug overdose deaths in 2020 involved opioids. W/ illegally created fentanyl replacing the heroin market & growing use of fake pills containing fentanyl, fentanyl-related compounds, or other opioids, the risk for drug overdose deaths remains high.
A new MMWR showed para-fluorofentanyl and metonitazene have been identified in fatal overdoses along with fentanyl in eastern TN. Combining these substances w/ other opioids like fentanyl pose an even greater harm to the patient than previously observed: bit.ly/mm7104a3
