Ah, a political aspirant who is beginning to understand the spiritual realities of our time: The western societies which are collapsing now are downstream of collapsed churches which once held the darkness at bey. To rebuild the west, we must rebuild the Church.
I hate to be this cynical, but I’ll be honest…running for Mayor exposes you to things that make you believe the city is actually being overtaken by demonic energy. Drive south Fig at night. Go to 6th and San Pedro. You see children openly prostituting, drug zombies setting dogs and cats on fire, babies born to crackheads and tossed in a dumpster, dead people just lying in the streets…that’s not even to mention the dozen neighbors of ours who burned alive in what is now a crumbled hellscape. Many times I wondered if the city’s problems weren’t beyond the reach of any politician’s capacity to actually fix. There is a cultural and spiritual rot that can’t be fixed at the ballot box. Until we fix the culture, we are kinda just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic and the shit we shovel around every 4 years doesn’t really mean a thing.

Reflections with Sasquatch: It is an odd day when one realizes that his youth is past, together with the wars he has fought, leaving the greater heat of battle to the next generation. Even so, not all wars are physical, and the young still need their elders in the fight.

It is a delusion of this world to think ourselves all that matter or exist—but the truth is that we all press toward the eternal reality of God where His people endure with Him forever. We are indeed surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses: “Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, “Who are these arrayed in white robes, and where did they come from?” And I said to him, “Sir, you know.” So he said to me, “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve Him day and night in His temple. And He who sits on the throne will dwell among them. They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat; for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”” — From the Apocalypse of St. John, the 7th chapter

Who had, “CIA turns on the American Republic to foment a Marxist color revolution” on their bingo card at the turn of millennium? I sure as hell didn’t…
Replying to @DataRepublican
Another thing to understand: these are people who did regime change as a career before USAID was cut. And they were "successful" in many scenarios. These are the literal "CIA coup" people doing the plotting.

“Jane Doe” arriving unconscious in a remote ER, only to die a few hours later still unknown, has to be among the saddest things to see. And yet, it seems the most honestly human— that no matter what the world knows of you, you are always best known only to God. Kyrie Eleison—

There is One who guards the way of the saints, even when all hell is arrayed against them; and it is He who is their salvation in every age: “Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper. The ungodly are not so,
But are like the chaff which the wind drives away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment,
Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the Lord knows the way of the righteous,
But the way of the ungodly shall perish.” — Psalm 1

Reflections with Sasquatch: No one should be surprised when liars, thieves, and murderers act like liars, thieves, and murderers. As The Man said, you know the tree by its fruit.

I detest false claims of catastrophism, but this analysis is spot on. Once a major political party was overtaken by Marxists and Jihadists, the game changed at a fundamental level. They have declared their intentions to end the Republic, and voting them in is national suicide.
RE: The Midterms and National Survival The Democrat Party has been hijacked by an alliance of literal Communists and Islamic jihadists who now wear the mantle of Tip O’Neill and Sam Nunn like a skinsuit while espousing the most radical, anti-American agenda the USA has ever experienced. These are people who want the Constitution eviscerated, capitalism extinguished, Sharia law imposed and your very way of life destroyed. If they achieve power, the lawfare you saw in 2020 will be NOTHING by comparison. If you hold traditional conservative values and/or if you are a practicing Christian or a Jew, they want you destroyed—economically, politically, practically, reputationally and—if necessary—they want you in a Gulag or to pay with your life. This is not hyperbole, nor is this something that will happen overnight if we lose the midterms. However, if they win the midterms this will be for them a major step towards their ultimate goal of domination, a domination where the Bill of Rights has no meaning and all elections are pre-determined. I really don’t care how much you dislike RINOs or how upset you are that Trump did not fully fix your pet issue in less than two years or how irritated you get filling up your gas tank. If you sit out these upcoming midterms to “send a message,” all you are doing is participating in your own demise. If this is you, please wise up. This is NOT POLITICS AS USUAL. National survival is at stake in a way it never has been before.

The older I get, the more this hymn draws a tear from my eyes. And with All Saints Day coming this Sunday, I couldn't help but share this magnificent rendition of For all the Saints: youtube.com/watch?v=UwE6HGXK…

I just realized this morning, that in my dotage, I read two weeks ahead in the lectionary. Ah, well-- I guess that's just where my mind is these days. 😂

The eternal depth of love and fellowship with God is immeasurably greater than the passing passions and fellowships of this world: “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.” — The First Epistle of St. John, the 3rd chapter

I know there's a lot of angst these days over celebrating Christopher Columbus Day, or Indigenous People's Day. So, for a compromise, perhaps we remember both by celebrating: Conquering the Barbarians Day 😎

Perhaps a modern spin on JFK's famous injunction, "Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country," would be: "Take not from your country what you can legitimately earn on your own." That might actually put a sizeable dent in the national debt.
