Yesterday, NJCA joined families, child care providers, educators, and advocates at the State House in Trenton for a legislative hearing on the affordability, accessibility, and stability of New Jersey’s child care system, followed by the Affordable Child Care Now rally.
Families deserve affordable, quality child care. Providers and educators deserve the resources and support they need to keep their doors open and deliver the care our communities depend on.
It’s time for our state leaders to make child care a priority and deliver real solutions for New Jersey’s families and providers.

“Jeff Van Drew and any other Republicans who voted for this bill do not get to say ‘I didn’t hurt Medicaid,’” Maura Collinsgru, director of policy and advocacy at New Jersey Citizen Action, told TNJD. “They hurt Medicaid and in fact they may cause people to lose their lives because they will lose access to routine care, and when they do get care many of them will be too sick to be helped.”

A new Altarum survey of more than 1,400 New Jersey adults found that 41% worry they or a family member won’t be able to afford needed prescriptions. New Jersey lawmakers have the power to act. Establishing upper payment limits can help rein in prescription drug costs and protect families from unaffordable prices. The affordability crisis won’t solve itself. With nearly 1,000 price hikes and counting across New Jersey, it’s time for the Legislature to use the tools available to lower costs and put people ahead of runaway prices.
Far too many New Jerseyans are unaware that they are likely eligible for paid family leave when they need to take time to care for their health or their loved ones. We believe that service provider organizations in New Jersey should be informed of this benefit so they can share with their clients and the public. To that end, we offer free trainings and presentations for various audiences, in English or Spanish, virtually or in-person. For more info or to schedule a training, please visit: njtimetocare.com/trainings

If you receive the one-time $90 Medicare premium rebate from the Trump administration, consider whether you can put it toward a cause you believe in. A one-time check can go quickly. But investing in the future of our communities can have a lasting impact. Support a Democratic campaign or an organization working to protect our democracy, defend essential programs, and hold elected officials accountable. Small contributions can help sustain the work of organizing, advocacy, and civic engagement.
Make that $90 count! Every act of civic engagement matters.
