They’re dropping seeds from helicopters over Pisgah National Forest. More than 20,000 pounds of them. And after everything these mountains have been through, I love the thought of something falling from the sky that might help them heal.
The U.S. Forest Service and National Forest Foundation are working to reseed roughly 900 acres damaged by Helene in the Grandfather and Appalachian ranger districts. Crews are spreading seed from the air and on the ground, targeting places where landslides and rushing water stripped away vegetation. The goal is to stabilize exposed soil, slow erosion and give plants a chance to get established before invasive species take over.
It’s easy to look at a wooded mountain from the highway and assume nature is handling things. But the scars are still there. Recovery includes the places tucked out of sight, where a slope lost its cover or a streambank washed away. Getting vegetation growing again is part of caring for the waterways below, too.
This won’t put a forest back overnight. These are seeds, and the work depends on what takes root and survives in the years ahead. But I want people to see this part of Helene recovery—the patient work that keeps going long after the cameras have moved on.
Somebody is still out there tending to these mountains. This time, with helicopters full of seeds.

I wanted to share a quick note for anyone considering purchasing Starlink.
I absolutely love it. I've had it since May 2025 and it is the best purchase I've made.
If you're considering it, you're welcome to sign up using my referral link and we both get either $100 in service credit or cash 🙂

I'll have to reinstall the Steam version and see if it will work on the Ally with this. It's been unplayable on it for some time (so I've been just on Xbox version) as it crashes on warping, will see if this resolves that!
A small entry in our Steam experimental patch notes over the last few days marks the start of a much broader optimisation effort!
#NoMansSky is unusual: when loading into the game or warping to a new system, more than half of the “loading” time is actually spent calculating the game’s procedural elements.
We’ve been working hard to speed the actual loading part up, and the tiny patch note is the first of many improvements on the way. Taken together, these should eventually halve those “load” times!

After a 12 hour game session, I think I better put it away.
I’ve learnt a lot and progressed well.
It’s a hard game to put down. 👌

Never a bad day for a rip on the parkway, but way better when the trees look like fruity pebbs. 🫦🍁

Honestly just spent more time taking it in today rather than taking a lot of pictures. Here is one I got on 215 this morning.
Driving back home, colors are really popping just about everywhere across the Carolinas now.
I love Fall, but it’s Christmas time now! 🍂🍁💨🎄❄️

Night time lapse, Indonesia to North of Japan. A very lively atmosphere up high, with dizzying human activity down low. Blue lights are fishing trawlers hard at work.
To follow up, added Queen's Domain to the pile! 😁For $16.99 hard to go wrong, and with everything I'm reading I don't think I will. Seeing a ton of positive posts about it, and most all makes it sound like my kind of game. I'll post about it when I get to playing, may be a bit.
