Last week we held the first ever BSL Advisory Board meeting to discuss implementing the BSL Act 🧏♂️
The Board are BSL users and experts, who met with the Minister for Disabled People to advise government on accessible communications and policy for Deaf BSL users.
Yesterday was #InterpreterAppreciationDay apparently. This is just so you know what we do when we're 'signing' in your meeting, event, performance. This is just the Eng to BSL bit. The #BSL to Eng, cross cultural, environment specific, etc stuff is extra.

Some lipspeakers are also qualified BSL Interpreters, thus referred to as ‘dual-registered’. Our website enables you to find the right lipspeaker for you: lipspeakingwithsign.co.uk/me…

Should VRS interpreters display their full names?
According to one of the VRS services, they do not do this due to GDPR but *I* can ask the interpreter for his/her name. 🤔🤔
Your thoughts?

We’re thrilled to see that @ITV have considered the accessibility of #BSL users, and we look forward to seeing them expanding their access services across the remaining platforms.⬇️
