ALT We are working on converting the empty Victory Memorial Ice Arena on 42nd and Morgan in North Minneapolis to a roller rink. This is going to be a destination for North Minneapolis. Roll North is going to employ students and neighbors, and provide space for all varieties of recreational activities. With Henry HS next door there are opportunities to provide recreation and jobs to those in the area.
ALT Additionally we are working with the North Star Roller Derby to provide space for their bouts and practices, as well as providing programs to the area. Derby and skating are extremely accessible, and we have an opportunity to make more inclusive youth sports available.
ALT North Minneapolis is always overlooked for recreation and places to go. A building of this size would never sit empty and unused in any other part of the city. We cannot wait for Upper Harbor to become reality to provide jobs and recreation for residents.
ALT This is a long project early in process. Right now we are still building community support. Look for more updates in the coming months as this takes shape. Please follow us on social, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, all @rollNorthMN
