My husband booked an expensive restaurant for our 15th wedding anniversary.
I thought he was finally making an effort after months of working late and complaining that his business was struggling.
We'd barely finished our starters when a woman approached our table.
She looked directly at me.
“I'm sorry, but I need to know something. Are you still married to him?”
I looked at my husband.
He put down his fork.
The woman explained that he'd told her our divorce had been finalized eight months earlier.
He'd also promised to marry her and buy a house with her.
She'd already transferred him $24,000 toward the purchase.

In a country where people now queue for ₦1,000 giveaways. In a country where falling sick is now at your own risk.
Yet politicians are giving out Jeeps just to campaign! You would rather share millions among your political elite than use that money to improve the lives of over 200 million Nigerians.

My husband’s nephew begged to come and stay with me. He wanted to attend a one-month forklift training. My house was closer to the school, so I agreed.
He has spent about three weeks here. In all that time I have never seen him pick up a broom, wash a cup, or even greet my sick mum, who is also living with me.
I decided not to confront him. His one month was almost up.
Yesterday he came to tell me his bathing soap had finished. He needed money to buy another one.
I ignored him.
He is about 19. Old enough to attend forklift training. Old enough not to ask me for soap after three weeks of doing nothing.
I have told him to round up the training and prepare to leave.
The pressure to survive has made sleep feel like a luxury instead of a basic human need.

A mentally unstable, middle-aged woman normally stands at a particular junction in my neighborhood
This junction is enroute to a lot of schools and lesson centers
She would always come early in the morning or in the afternoon after school hours to direct traffic and help children cross the road
This act has worn so many hearts; parents and passersby always hail her and sometimes give her some cash
Early this term, she stopped appearing frequently, and at some point, she stopped coming altogether
Everyone has been asking after her
Recently, some women who know her family house inside town went to search for her
They were told that she was seriously sick, and her family have been giving her some local treatments
One of the women, told them to allow her to take the woman to the hospital, volunteering to foot the bill
Omo, she said the moment she saw her something clicked
She said, 'this woman is pregnant ooh'
They took to a lab and it was confirmed
She's pregnant and they've been giving her local medications
