Last year there were more than 8 million calls to 911 — 22K calls a day.
Congratulations to our newest 911 operators who complete their training & graduate today. Tomorrow they begin their critical work of connecting police with people in need — saving lives one call at a time.

We mourn the death of Larry Byrne, our former Deputy Commissioner for Legal Matters, who passed away Sunday evening. The Byrne family has deep ties to policing in NYC, his father was a cop, & his brother, Edward Byrne, was tragically assassinated in the line of duty in 1988.
